To add a personal touch to your home decor this fall, you will love making a pumpkin flower arrangement, DIY fall leaf luminaries (so beautiful!), or a preserved leaf fall wreath for your home. And if you want your home to smell like fall heaven, make this delicious apple crumble recipe!
Oh how I love fall. I love the way it feels so warm and cozy inside as it begins to feel more crisp outside. I love the decor, the football games, the apple cider, the pumpkins and the candlelight. I really love everything about it. It is always the time I love to light my favorite fall scented candles, wear a worn sweatshirt, and cozy up in a nice warm throw, snuggling with the little ones.
We have been enjoying the Fall Mantel I put together a few weeks ago with the easy DIY canvas art.
Pretty soon I will be pulling out all of the Halloween decor though. The kids have been asking for it, and they can hardly wait to get it out again. It is just so fun to do.
We love spooky cute vintage Halloween decor with a Halloween tree. We didn't put it up last year, so we definitely need to this year!
Fall Decorating Ideas
There are certain things that always make our home feel more cozy for fall:
- candlesticks and votive candles
- pumpkins
- vintage accents
- textural items like baskets and breadboards
- fall leaves
- foraged branches and flowers
- fall artwork
- copper
- apples
- nubby textiles
- warm colors
- throws
It is important to me to make any home we live in feel like us. And while we may not be staying forever in this cute rental of ours (we are looking for land to build) we can still make it feel familiar and inviting.
Fall Decorating Ideas for the Kitchen
Decorating the kitchen for fall is easy and something I always love to do. Adding the tastes, scents, and textures to the kitchen can make the whole house feel like fall. Here are some fall decorating ideas for the kitchen:
- pumpkins
- apples
- gourdes
- fall color towels
- vintage striped towel with texture
- copper
- candles
- pumpkin snack cake with cream cheese frosting
- baskets
- bread boards
- jugs of apple cider
Budget Friendly Fall Decorating Ideas
The wonderful thing about fall is that the decor can be so inexpensive and even free. One thing I love to do is to shop my home for anything that has patina or texture and include it in my autumn decor. I also thrift a lot of special pieces that can be used throughout all of the seasons.
Some of the things I love to add to my fall decor because of their beautiful patina include:
- antique furniture
- baskets
- buckets
- artwork
- textiles
- chairs
- breadboards
- vintage platters
- old books
Fall decorating is less about the decor itself and more about enhancing the real feeling of fall in our homes. It is the inviting warmth, the coziness, the comfortable layers, the scents, and the easy laid back moments. It is an experience more than just decorating.
Other Fall Tips
I love to keep other things on hand to enhance the feeling of fall. The ingredients to bake a pumpkin or apple treat can always be found in my cupboards this time of the year. Also, I always stock up on apple cider and hot cocoa to make a little treat for the littles or guests at a moment's notice. The best thing about fall is the nights spent in with loved ones, so I like to have everything on hand if possible so we don't need to leave the house.
I know you will love these beautiful homes decorated for fall! They are all so inviting!
