About DIY Canvas Art
Creating DIY Canvas Art is easy and fun to do! It is also much less expensive than regular large canvas art. You can make your own artwork to decorate for every season and holiday and trade them out throughout the year. A fall landscape for Autumn, a Christmas scene after that, and a simple one for everyday.
This project comes together in under an hour, with only about 15 minutes of hands on time.
DIY Canvas Art Supplies
You can find many beautiful prints online in the public domain. This one is from The Graphics Fairy Membership site. Once you choose which one you would like for your home, have it printed at a local copy place. Depending on the size, you may want to check out the pricing for posters, engineering prints, large or small prints before you decide. For this project, I printed 2 of these l landscape prints onto poster paper at the local copy place.
If you would prefer, you could also mount your prints to a piece of wood or in a frame.
You will need these supplies (affiliate links for your convenience):

How to Create DIY Canvas Art
Step One: Prepare Artwork
Have your artwork printed at a copy place. The carefully cut out your print. Set aside while you tackle the next step.
Step Two: Paint Canvas
You can paint the entire canvas if you want, but I choose to just paint the edges that are showing. Why waste paint and time? Be sure to paint the sides of the canvas as well. I chose a paint to coordinate with the background of my artwork.
Step Three: Mod Podge
Follow the instructions on the container of Mod Podge to adhere the art print to the canvas. I just adhered the print with the mod podge from left to right instead of trying to do the whole thing at once. Be sure to remove air bubbles as much as possible as you go. It doesn't have to be perfect! Be careful if you choose to mod podge over the top of the print. Some forms of printing will produce an ink that will smear. I chose to only do the backside of this DIY canvas art print, but have done the frontside many other times before.
That's it! It couldn't be easier to make DIY Canvas Art. And it is very addicting for beautiful custom seasonal art for my decor.
