DIY Candles are one of my very favorite ways to personalize our home through each of the seasons and holidays. They are easy to make and add a beautiful, inviting ambiance.
DIY Candles for Fall
When summer draws to a close and the air begins to feel crisp outside, it seems like I instinctively crave the warm and cozy things. I love to add throw blankets to the sofa and have a favorite candle glowing in my kitchen or on the coffee table. It just makes everything so inviting.
I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite DIY candles, ideas and tutorials with you today.
Recently, I shared how to paint candles and made these simple little taper candles and have been enjoying them so much ever since. I can't wait to make some for Christmastime.
Our very favorite tradition that we make each year are DIY Fall Leaf Luminaries. We love to go to a park and find as many pretty leaves as we can to make them.
They are so beautiful and fun to make.
And the memories we make each year while we search for them are special to me.
It is such an inexpensive project that is so beautiful. Someday I want to do an entire thanksgiving dinner table with these down the middle.
They are just magical in person.
This Fall Wheat Candle Holder came together quickly and was a sweet and organic way to decorate.
These simple glass votives were transformed with Free Printable Fall Candle Wraps we printed right at home.
My hubby made me these candlesticks that I used on my fall tablescape from a tree that died in our backyard. He cut up the branches for me. I used a spade bit to create the holes for the candles.
We made this DIY Wooden Candle Holder for fall and Christmas a couple years ago and it is one of my favorites. It just sparkles in the middle of the table or even in a fireplace.
I made another one several years ago that was a lot longer and we used it on our thanksgiving dinner table.
They are so versatile and can be used all year long.
Another one of my favorite DIY candle ideas is very simply to put pillars or tapers (with holders) on an antique platter. It corrals the candles and is so simple and elegant.
Sometimes I put little pinecones, acorns, dried oranges or other such things around the platter at the base of the candles.
I also love them just simple and plain like this.
It is a great way to use and display little collections and elevates a simple platter.
I made these bottle candle holders for my New Year's Even tablescape a few years ago using bottles from the dollar store. I warmed the end of the candle and squished it into the bottles.
They are so easy to make and glisten in the candlelight. The light of the Christmas tree made them extra sparkly too.
DIY Candles for Christmas
Fall is when I start burning candles to create a nice ambiance in our home. Then we continue to use them all through the holidays and the winter months.
I thought I would share some DIY candles for the holidays since it will be here before we know it.
When it became freezing cold outside last year, we made this DIY ice lanterns. If you use a battery operated candle, and if the weather stays freezing, they last a very long time outside.
Lastly, I always love to make pretty luminaries with my little ones.
Lanterns or luminaries are another one of my favorite ways to use candles. We have made a lot of them over the years.
We have made these Free Printable Santa sleigh and reindeer luminaries many times and they are so magical at night.
This DIY Nativity Lantern is so very sweet and even makes a nice Christmas gift. It is practically free to make and is one of the most beautiful nativity pictures I have ever seen. I just love how sweet and tender it is.
These Christmas village luminaries are whimsical and so sweet for the season too.
