Our fall home tour with touches of bittersweet and pumpkins with plenty of candlelight to create a cozy autumn atmosphere for our family.
Oh how I love the fall! The crisp autumn air, the delicious smell of maple butter twists or pumpkin bundt cake in our kitchen, and those beautiful fall colors warming up our home.
I love all of the colors, textures, flavors and the cozy feeling of fall. There is just nothing like it.
This year I wanted to keep my fall decor simple and natural. I had my heart set on getting some bittersweet to add a touch here and there. I think it is so pretty and the colors are just simple and beautiful for fall.
I picked up some bittersweet at a local antique store- enough to fill this vintage basket and some extra to make a wreath. It dries so beautifully, so if I am careful when I store it, I could use it over again for years.
I don't know if bittersweet grows in my area, but if it does, I need to plant some when we move!
Pillows
To help warm up our family room, I pulled out my warm, neutral fall pillows. I have used some of these for years- like the brown plaid ones I got at a local antique store.

- neutral block print pillows
- textured warm brown and cream pillows
- cream sweater lumbar pillows are from Homegoods
Fall Throw Blankets
Pulling out all of the cozy throw blankets is one of my favorite things to do! It marks the beginning of the season of snuggling and warmth and coziness! I have had some of these throws for a long time, but I will link some of the ones I can find.
I like to invest in a couple nice throws that I can keep and use for years. They make such a difference in warming up our home and adding a soft texture.

- chunky cable knit throw

- The fuzzy rust colored one was from homegoods
Fall Kitchen Decor
The showstopper in our kitchen now is definitely these copper rods we made! I love them so much and have been enjoying having my copper pans out again. Copper is a beautiful, classic touch for any season, but I especially love it in the fall. The color, the warmth, the patina, everything about it.
I added a vase with some fall leaves and two jugs of apple cider. Each year, I buy a couple of these glass jugs of apple cider and remove the label to use in my decor. Then at the end of the season, we drink them- usually around Halloween since I decorate for Christmas on November 1st!
Fall Family Room Decor
Besides the bittersweet and pumpkins, I added a bunch of fall leaves to our family room in an old crock I thrifted. They just feel at home on top of my old pine cabinet, and match the colors of the bittersweet.
I found this cast iron horse piggy bank at a local antique store and when I brought it home, I set it up here for safe keeping and it just kind of felt at home here too. So I just left it here for the season.
Faux Fireplace
I kept our faux fireplace really simple this year. There was so many other fall touches in this room that it just felt better to have a moment of simplicity here for now. I might add some fun halloween touches here later.
I am so happy it's fall!
