Fresh green wreaths accented with pepper berries and red velvet ribbon adorn this traditional Christmas Mantel Decor with creamy white stockings and lovely candlelight on brass candlesticks. All of my favorite things on one little faux fireplace mantel.
This year, I pulled out all of the things I usually use for my Christmas Mantel Garland, and then decided to go in a different route.

Christmas Mantel Decor
I love decorating my Christmas mantel each holiday season! I typically coordinate my Christmas mantel decor with my Christmas tree. Depending on the style of my tree, the mantel can range from being subtle and understated to being more elaborate and detailed.
The mantel is an important part of our Christmas tradition because it holds our stockings! The little ones spend hours giggling and talking about all of the little things that will be in their stockings on Christmas morning.
In case you are wondering, Santa always takes the stockings down from the mantel and lays them on the couch filled with goodies at our house (he wouldn't want to take down all of the Christmas mantel decor with the weight of all of the goodies). He always puts an orange and peanuts in the bottom and little goodies and toys on top of that.
For this wreaths and ribbon Christmas mantel decor, I used these supplies, but you could mix and match with the things you have on hand!
- Wreaths- I found these live green candle ring wreathes at Trader Joe's but they are common in most grocery stores (as centerpieces) this time of the year.
- Pepper Berry- I ordered peppery berry through my grocery store, but there are places online to buy it fresh as well. It dries beautifully (I actually bought this 2 months ago and dried it) so don't be afraid to buy dried pepper berry. I found some here and here. Note- it is the "pink pepper berry" that I use. It looks more red to me than pink.
- Burgundy or Red Velvet Ribbon- I found mine at Joann's this year. It is the color burgundy which is more like a beautiful, deep red- that I love!
- Taper Candles- I used these taper candles but I ordered these battery operated tapers to use more easily daily during the season.
How to Add Wreaths and Ribbon to Christmas Mantel Decor
This Christmas mantel decor is pretty easy to put together with these tips!
First, I measured the mantel to make sure I put the first wreath directly in the middle. Then I added the other two wreaths on the ends. Since this is a faux mantel, and not too fancy, we just used a small screw to hang the wreaths. If it were a nicer fireplace mantel, we would have used removable command strips.
Second, I added the red velvet ribbon. I used one length starting as the tail of the wreath on the left and draped it over to the middle wreath, hanging down another tail. Then I did it from the one on the right, again to the middle. This will make 2 tails in the middle wreath. Then, I started again from the wreath on the left and stopped at the top of the middle wreath, securing with a thumb tack. I repeated this with the one on the right.
This is what the middle wreath looks like where I thumb tacked the end of the ribbon. You could also wire it to a removable hook or other elements of your Christmas mantel decor.
This is what the front of the wreath looks like with the ribbon tails hanging down.
Third, I added dried pepper berry to my wreaths to add a little red pop against the fresh green wreaths.
Last, I added candles to the mantel- cream taper candles on brass candlesticks. I love that combination.
I like how the Christmas mantel decor compliments the traditional vintage style of the tree without being too matchy-matchy. The classic reds and greens are just so festive and striking. I also love how it gives a little more white space than if I had used a green garland, making the details of the tree and mantel easier to see without blending in.
