Our holiday home at night, decorated for Christmas under the soft glow of candlelight and twinkle lights.
One of my very favorite things about the holidays is pulling out all of the candles and pretty twinkle lights- it makes everything just feel like Christmas. The way they bounce off all of the surfaces in the house at night makes everything so magical while we snuggle to read Christmas books together with our littles.
Christmas day is fun, but the days and nights leading up to it are even more special to me. They are full of traditions, baking, twinkle lights, and focusing on the true reason for the season. They are full of watching the magic in my little ones' eyes.
I recently shared the tutorial for this DIY Christmas centerpiece and can you believe, this is still the very same one!? I just changed out the fruit. It has been sitting on my table for almost a month now and the greens are still so pretty!
I have cafe lights hanging on our back patio, so there is a soft glow behind my curtains and wreaths. These boxwood wreaths are a favorite decorating tradition for me. I love to go get them each year.
The red, orange, and green are so rich in the glow of candlelight. I love the color combination for Christmas.
Full disclosure- the baby has been crawling her little chubby-ness over to the Christmas tree and ripping apart the presents. She thinks they are the most fun toys ever. So, we have been slow to wrap presents, and the ones for the kids are remaining up higher!
We have a little tradition where we grab our hot cocoa and the hubbs and I wrap Christmas presents together while watching a Christmas movie. Its the little things that I so look forward to each year.
This room has been getting its wear this winter. It is so cozy and fun to have the sectional in here so we take full advantage with stories, snuggles, and even games.
I have been feeling a bit melancholy these past few days knowing that this magical season is drawing to a close. It is always so sad for me when the traditions and activities come to a close and it comes time to put away the Christmas decorations. I always miss these nights with twinkle lights everywhere, and my littles in their jammies asking for "one more Christmas story."
Our kitchen is currently being occupied by the many batches of toffee I made to take to the neighbors (recipe here) and these sweet gingerbread houses- another fun tradition we love to do together each year. The one on the left is the girls' and the one on the right is the boys'.
I love this view from the kitchen sink. I love how cheerful and glowy everything looks at night.
Ah, Christmas nights, how I love you.
