I am back from my little maternity leave just in time to share some fun Spring touches around our home. I have missed decorating, fluffing, and taking pictures... and I have missed all of you. I can't lie though, I have been soaking in every little second of my sweet baby. She is absolutely heavenly. We are all so in love with her.
Spring around our home is always such a happy and invigorating time. The kids love to be able to play outside more and I always get the bug to declutter, fluff, and add a bit of color here and there. I like to add a little freshness and life to our home. I usually end up buying an ivy plant or two (which I will end up killing by Christmas), cleaning out closets, and washing every linen in the house. It feels so good.
Flowers are also so easy to find this time of the year. I love when the tulips are out. It always feels like the first sign of Spring when you can see them in the grocery stores. After a gloomy winter, fresh flowers are such a welcome and happy pick-me-up.
On the list, is to wipe down each of my jars and the tops of my cabinets.
I also plan on taking a toothbrush to the cracks and crevices around the faucet and sink. Well, I am trying to be optimistic that I will accomplish these tasks. I do have a new baby that sucks me in with her sweet smell, her coos and her beautiful little smiles. So, we will see.
I have been purging a few things here and there, but my bread boards will never go. I went to wipe down the little handprint on my dishwasher and for some reason this time, I just couldn't do it. With 4 littles, I seem to have to wipe little handprints off of surfaces of our home daily. This time it just struck me how much I will miss these little hand prints someday. Can you see it?
To me, Spring is about shedding off the excess, and cleaning, freshening and reusing what we already have. I always feel a sense of relief when I evaluate what I really want to keep and use, and what I can let go of.
My favorite candle scents are the fall ones- apple spice being at the top of the list. I burn those all year long, but I like to also add in a few citrus ones for the Spring and Summer.
M view from the kitchen. I added my little bird print to our cabinet and filled the shelves with my extra quilts and throws.
I pulled out my Fall pillows just because they looked so pretty with the sectional we brought in from the shed.
One of my favorite Spring touches are my wreaths around our home. I should have taken a picture of the front door. These big full wreaths are a favorite.
This week has been so beautiful here, and I have definitely felt the Spring bug. Are you feeling it too?
I would love to hear some of your favorite things to do in the Spring!
Of course, I have more Spring inspiration here for you from my friends in our Seasons of Home Tour. These lovelies always have such beautiful and inspiring things to share.
