A cozy, rustic family room decorated for fall with touches of plaid, vintage amber glass, wood tones, and other antique elements, enhanced with texture through blankets, throws and pillows.
I went a little moodier with my fall family room this year. Everything in this room is usually pretty neutral so it is easy to add pops of color or texture that really change the feel of the whole space during the different holiday seasons. It has felt a little extra cozy in this space since we pulled out our fall decor and we seem to be snuggling and reading books in here more and more often.
The pillows and amber glass were all from last year. The antique books, tray and breadboards are all things that I use around my home during every season. This year I added this plaid throw blanket from Hobby Lobby and it was under $10! It really changed the feel of the whole room.
I really love the fall. It almost feels like such a relief to me when the cold, crisp weather starts to set it. There is such a cozy feeling in our home and a need to gather and reconnect.
I took my mirror down from the mantel and added my big breadboards. I Thought the rustic wood tones were so perfect with my fall decor. I want to collect a couple more large antique breadboards, but for now, these seem so cozy in this space.
One of my very favorite things to pull out in the fall are my vintage amber glass bottles. I love setting them on this end table where the light shines through them, producing the most mesmerizing warm glow. My littles helped me to set up this space and the bottles were there favorite part. They are almost magical at channeling that fall feeling into the room.
I added sprigs of broomcorn to my vintage amber glass jars just to add whimsy and fun, but they are very pretty by themselves too. The broomcorn was leftover from a different fall flower arrangement and it dries so beautifully. I am enjoying the texture it adds, especially next to the antique pine end table.
I would usually never have so much orange in one space in my home- it isn't exactly a color I love. But with all of the rich warm tones in this space, it feels so festive. A big part of it is our garden harvest of pumpkins this year, all out on the table where the littles can enjoy the fruits of their hard work.
It feels like such a treat to be able to turn on the fireplace again.
I always have this basket here with extra throw blankets (and toys underneath if we are being honest) for when we snuggle on the couch together and read books.
Candles are another favorite thing that add instant coziness. I have been lighting them more frequently now that the seasons are changing and it feels so nice. It's truly the little things.
Not all of the things in this post are available online, but I linked as many as I could hear.
We are already enjoying fall so very much.
