I had the honor of throwing my sweet baby sister, Devan, a shower for her little boy, due in August. She and her husband live in Utah, and it was so fun to have her here visiting for a few days!
I served a lot of yummy summer foods for dinner, including chicken salad on croissants, fresh fruits and berries, sliced veggies, chips and dip, and baguettes topped with dip and veggies.
I set out my antique cream plates and vintage juice glasses for everyone to use.
To drink, I served homemade sparkling apple cider and water with lemon slices.
I also had a few desserts set out, including lemon cookies {which my beautiful friend Blair made... thanks again!}, apple spice cake with cream cheese frosting, and miniature double chocolate bundt cakes topped and garnished with buttercream frosting, chocolate drizzle and Pirouettes.
I didn't get any pictures of the craft room I had set up as the activity for the shower. I had each of the letters of the alphabet in various sizes, fonts, and made of different things like chipboard, wood, etc. along with paint, scrapbook paper and Mod Podge set out. The idea was to make each of the letters match her nursery. Anyhow, we all just sat around and talked and ate and didn't really get to it {yes, slackers!!}, so Dev took it home and is working on it. If you would like to see a picture of another nursery that has this type of wall art, click here.
I embellished these light strands and I will be posting a tutorial soon.
I thought it would be a fun way to add masculine texture.
Overall it was a fun night, enjoying good food and wonderful friends. Now, I am sad that Devan went back home : (. She will be back to visit again soon, so I guess I can't complain!
Thanks for reading!
