I have been keeping a pretty exciting secret!!
I am so thrilled to be a part of Jennifer Rizzo's Holiday Housewalk as a surprise house!
I love Christmas and I have thoroughly enjoyed every stop so far on the housewalk. If you would like to start from the beginning, just head over to Jennifer Rizzo's blog. Oh my goodness, there is so much lovely holiday eye candy!
I am number 28 in the tour, and the lovely and talented Kristin {My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia} shared her home on the stop just before me. She has such a talent, doesn't she!?
I hope you will sit back, grab a warm cup of cocoa and enjoy your visit to my home.
I am so happy to have you!
I love the color red, vintage decor, and all things Christmas! So, as you can imagine, I absolutely love decorating for Christmas. I hope you enjoy what you see :). I will be posting more in detail over the next week or so along with tutorials. If there is something you would like to know more about, leave me a comment and I will make sure I answer your questions in my posts.
I recently changed the decor in the entryway and built this shelf {I will post a tutorial soon}, so I was excited to be able to hang a live garland in that space. There is nothing like the smell of fresh greens.
I set up our big 9 ft. flocked tree in the family room again. I LOVE flocked trees. Ever since I was a little girl I knew that someday I would have a flocked tree. Every year I look forward to pulling her out and decorating her.
Since it is such a large tree, most of my ornaments and decorations are also pretty large: big mercury glass ornaments, frosted berries and branches, big vintage postcard prints, and German glass glittered keys.
I also used my favorite new red and cream striped cotton twill ribbon.
I put a couple of my favorite big vintage baskets under the tree to hold our gifts {I better get wrapping!} and I love the texture they add to the tree.
In the dining room, I kept things pretty simple.
My book page wreaths that I made a couple of years ago, fresh greens, pomegranates and a few red and white vintage quilts that I stole from my mom. 😉
In the family room, I made this little Christmas village.
I will post a tutorial on it soon. It was fun to make, and of course to add the glitter :). The candles cast a soft glow through the window cut outs.
Above the village, I drew little snowflakes in chalk and hung the vintage sheet music Noel banner that I made last year.
Oh how I love German glass glitter and bottle brush trees!
This year I added a couple of Christmas touched to our bedroom. I had also stolen this gorgeous red striped duvet from my mom and it made the perfect Christmas accent with the fresh garland.
In our office, I set up my tinsel tree. I had a few mercury glass ornaments on hand that I used as well as some little putz house churches, beads and ribbon.
I made the rest of the ornaments from different paper elements: vintage book page pinwheels, snowflakes, and doves covered in German glass glitter. My total cost for decorating this tree this year was FREE! Can't beat that!
I put my little vintage travel cases and hat boxes under the tree just for fun.
On the opposite wall, I hung the chalkboard that used to hang in the entryway. I also filled the little tiered baskets with Christmas ornaments and red books.
In Ella's room, I added a little white Christmas tree that I had in my stash.
I put it in a little vintage rocking horse, wrapped in a vintage linen. I didn't want to put any lights or breakable ornaments on it, so I just used this little beaded garland to add a little decoration.
I didn't get a chance to add another tree upstairs in our bonus room this year because of the new baby, so I just added some simple little touched to add a bit of festivity.
I turned the pictures over that I have hanging on my mousetrap wall art board. On the back of the pictures, I taped snowflakes that I cut out of red paper with my silhouette.
I added some faded red pillows and wrapped a couple of the pillows in this striped twill ribbon.
I just love to sit and snuggle with my newborn and enjoy all of the festive Christmas decorations. I was a very busy {and VERY pregnant} girl getting ready for the holidays and the new baby. I love seeing his little face as he looks at the Christmas tree lights.
I hope you enjoyed my home. I am so glad you came for a visit!
I will be posting more details as well as tutorials in the upcoming week.
Now... the next stop on the Holiday Housewalk is the incredibly talented and gorgeous Beth's home. I hope you will head on over to Unskinny Boppy and enjoy all of her gorgeous eye candy!

I've been loving all the Christmas homes on tour, but yours is the first I absolutely went ga ga over! I love your simple style, and all the grain sack patterns popping up everywhere. I get overwhelmed with the Christmas clutter, and prefer your simplicity hands down over anything else! I think we have very similar taste, and a love for vintage unique items. I did some pics last year of our Christmas home if you are interested in looking, over here - https://creatingbycami.blogspot.com/2012/12/home-for-holidays-2012.html I could definitely feed off of some of your ideas. I couldn't resist viewing the rest of your home and blog while I was over. Love your home and style!

Jennifer @ Town and Country Living
Kristen, I love your Christmas home. Love all the red and cream together! I share your love of flocked trees. When I was little we used to get a 12-foot fresh-cut tree that would be flocked professionally and then carefully transported to our living room with its cathedral ceiling. Dad would put it in a tree stand that rotated and played music. You would've loved it! I don't know how you got all your decorating done with a newborn in the house, but you did a fantastic job. Give the wee one a kiss for me on his chubby little cheek! 🙂
Dear Lillie
Your home is so beautiful! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
