Hello Ella Claire readers, it's Alicia from A Burst of Beautiful back again today.
This morning as I sat snuggled on the couch with my baby in my arms, big fluffy snowflakes began to fall from the sky. The morning had that quiet peaceful hush that always seems to be present while the world slowly wakes to the first real snowfall of the year. And it made me think of the post I would be working on later today.
I've brought together two of my favourite things - bottle brush trees and vintage canning jars to create these whimsical vintage-inspired snow globes. I've always loved snow globes, and this year I especially love watching our daughter mesmerized by the softly falling, glittery snow in these tiny little worlds.
As the holiday season was approaching this year and I began thinking, plotting and planning our Christmas decor (you can see my original inspiration here, although I've taken quite detour from my initial plan) I had my mind set on creating a sprawling winter wonderland on our dining table. I envisioned a frosty forest, complete with glistening snow, wood slices and these whimsical bottle brush trees captured under glass cloches and vintage canning jars.
I made this little guy last year, but as we all know, everything is more impactful when it is part of a collection. And I love collections. So I gathered up all of my vintage canning jars, big and small and I set out to buy some glittery faux snow and bottle brush trees.
I already had a few of these neutral bottle brush trees I bought last year at Michaels, but I wanted to add a pop of colour and some variety to my snow globes. I was so excited to find these sparkly green bottle brush trees at Dollarama, I ended up buying every last one. But really, how could you resist at that price point.
The patina of the vintage canning jars add a touch of vintage charm to this project. I opted to only use bottle brush trees, but these snow globes would be just as adorable with frosted pine cones, tiny woodland creatures or little villages sheltered within these serene miniature worlds.

Bottle Brush Christmas Tree Snow Globe Tutorial
Supplies:
- Vintage canning jars
- Bottle brush trees
- Faux snow
- Glue gun
Instructions:
- Secure your bottle brush tree to the lid of the canning jar with a dot of hot glue, hold firmly in place until the glue dries.
- Sprinkle a handful of faux snow into the jar.
- Keeping the jar upright, screw on the lid and slowly turn the jar upside down.
This is such an easiest Christmas craft, and I think they are so pretty and magical. I have these little beauties scattered around our home - a few in the kitchen, some in our bookshelves, and of course, I used them for my Winter Wonderland tablescape.
