We are welcoming in the season by adding bright and cheerful Spring color to our french country dining space.
Hi friends! If you are coming over from beautiful Town and Country Living, welcome! I am so glad you are all here.
I don't usually decorate with so much bright color. I don't really know what got into me. The sun finally came out in all of its glory, after months of gray winter weather. The birds were chirping outside my window as they fluffed their nests, and I just had some kind of spring fever. It was almost shocking to me how beautiful and bright and happy everything became outside. And then I just craved a dose of spring color. Winter can be so monochromatic.
I was at Whole Foods and saw these gorgeous orange roses with pink tips and they were so beautiful to me. I had originally picked out some of the flowers that I am usually drawn to- shaded of pinks, whites, purples. But I just kept looking at these beautiful orange roses and was so drawn to them. They seemed so happy. I have always been pretty sensitive to my surroundings and these- these were the medicine I didn't know I needed.
You can see the {easy} tutorial for how I made my flower arrangement in my Instagram stories.
(This towel is one that will be available in my online shop when it opens! It is the most beautiful European linen)
While I was at the grocery store, I grabbed some of these fresh oranges and Meyer lemons- a favorite treat. Just cutting into them is wonderful- the smell is even so refreshing.
My sweet girl helped me to put together our tablescape. She actually did most of it herself! We love to do these things together. She loved the bright pinks and the yummy oranges at each place setting.
I think the key to being able to entertain, and create simple tablescapes, quickly and easily is to have neutral dishes (I love white dishes), flatware, glassware, etc. Having these basic pieces on hand makes it easy to throw a table together- and we use them daily as well. We don't really have anything in our home that is too fancy to use regularly. Things don't have to be fussy to be beautiful. (I will link to all of my sources at the bottom of this post)
I keep a couple sets of cloth napkins on hand as well- this one with the blue trim and one with a cream crocheted trim. Both are relatively neutral so they coordinate with many different colorful flowers and foods.
Food and candles are my go-to, inexpensive way to add color and charm to a table. This clear glass bowl was a thrifted $1 find from a few years ago. The amber glass flower vase was also a couple dollars at an antique store.
I love the winter, but there is something so exciting and refreshing about Spring. I get so excited to plant my garden, plan summer fun with my littles, and just be outside more. I also think it is the perfect time to entertain before the hear of the summer sets in.
Adding such bright colors was a little out of my comfort zone, but it was such a fun thing to do. I think it is important not to put ourselves in boxes.

The oranges have my mouth watering. Here in New England I am longing for color too. My last bunch of flowers are a deep coral, like you, far from my comfort zone of pink. Your table is a refreshing change
