Happy Memorial Day! I am so thankful for those in the Armed Forces, past and present who have fought and are fighting for our country, for those who have lost their lives, and for those whose lives have been forever changed by their service. My heart is with you today. I find myself thinking even more about my own Marine grandpa that we lost this year. I couldn't be more proud to be his granddaughter. What a privilege.
I actually shared how to make these easy DIY marbled star marshmallow toppers over on Lil Luna today, looking ahead for the 4th of July, but I thought they are fitting for today as well!
I love these coordinating ribbon toppers as well. They are so easily customizable for any party, birthday, holiday or other special occasion. They are also really easy to throw together and add a lot of charm to the cupcakes!
To make ribbon cupcake toppers, I used lollypop sticks and various coordinating ribbons that I found at Hobby Lobby (half price!). Cut ribbonwninto short lengths (I like to cut the edges on a diagonal) and slip knot around the lollypop sticks as shown below.
(Loop on one side, edges on the other- bring both edges over the top of the stick and through the loop- pull tight)
Tip: Tie on one ribbon first, trimming it down to desired length. Then untie ribbon and use it as pattern for all of the rest of your ribbon cuts. If you cut all of your ribbons ahead of time, it saves a bunch of time!
When you are done tying your ribbons, just stick the in the center of your cupcakes. So easy and cute!
I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day!
