I am so happy that one of my very favorite companies, The Home Depot, is sponsoring this post and our awesome GIVEAWAY! As always, all opinions {and my love for The Home Depot} are my very own. Please see below for additional disclosure.
I have had a lot on my mind lately as I am officially 36 weeks pregnant! Is it just me, or did that FLY by!? I have been in crazy nesting mode, checking things off of my to-do list at lightening speed {Ok, as "lightening speed" as a hugely pregnant girl can go :)}. I have also been brainstorming ideas for my new little guy's room.
On top of everything else, we are also in the process of trying to find new carpet for our entire home {does it feel like our to-do list is never-ending to anyone but me?}. Ours is very worn out and sad looking, and it is time to replace it. I have looked at SO many samples in various places, and was excited to get the opportunity to review this sample of SoftSpring Carpet from The Home Depot.
I headed down to The Home depot with my sweetie pie, and checked out all of the different SoftSpring Carpets. I think it would be wonderful for a nursery because of how lusciously soft it feels. Actually, the adorable thing is that Ella kept touching it and saying "soooooooooooft."
I really love that girl. She read my mind.
I really am very impressed with their carpet. I used my sample to see what it would look like with the other decor elements I already have for the room. Here is a little peak for you... it isn't much so far, but you can see the general direction I am leaning...
I love the look of the black and cream with the warm tones of the carpet. I think I will need a pop of red, and maybe some vintage galvanized and numbered elements.
I have actually had these vintage train blueprints since our honeymoon over 5 years ago. I saw them in a little antique shop on the coast and knew that they would be perfect for a little boy's room if I ever had one. I just had to buy them and store them away just in case... and now I am so excited to use them! Now I just need to find some great furniture, textiles, etc.
So... back to planning... Here are some tips I like to keep in mind when planning a nursery:

I will definitely keep you posted as I decorate his room. I have been in little girl mode for so long, that creating a room for this sweetie pie may be a little challenging... but fun!

I've actually been eyeing a rug at Home Depot! I have a little one on the way, too, and we're needing to put a nice, soft rug down on our hardwood in the living room for when he starts crawling :).

I LOVE Home Depot - I think I would use it towards the laundry room project - we've got some water issues in there and I need to replace the lower cabinets because of that!
Jessica
We are getting ready to move, so a little help in planning the boys room would be awesome!

Man, there are so many things I could buy. Maybe new lighting (or under cabinet lighting) for our kitchen makeover. Maybe paint....or bulbs or the garden.

I would use the gift card on my upcoming new kitchen. My husband milled the wood from my fathers bush, now it is waiting here until my husband has time to start making the cupboards...I would use the money on accessories and hardware. Thanks for the giveaway!!
Sarah VM
I would buy a very much needed mailbox.

We'd buy new closet doors. Ours are metal ones from the 1970s!

If I were lucky enough to win the $100 Home Depot gift card, I probably would just turn it over to my mother :). She has been working like a fiend lately fixing up ceiling with cracked and peeling paint. Also, she desires a new storage shed for the back yard (I realize $100 is probably not enough to cover that, but it is a start). Thank you hosting this Giveaway! I love your blog! You're so inspiring!
