This single-serve, double chocolate brownie is so quick and easy that it makes the perfect recipe to tuck away for those emergency situations where you need a chocolate fix in a hurry! It is delicious on its own, and even better with a dollop of ice cream. The plus side is that it doesn't have any added oil or eggs... which doesn't exactly make it healthy... but, hey it does eliminate a few calories.
Double Chocolate Brownie in a Mug
Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 3 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup powdered brownie mix from a box (my favorite is Betty Crocker)
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 T chocolate chips
Instructions
-
Stir together the brownie mix and water until there aren’t any dry clumps. Microwave for 1 minute {you may have to play with the cook time to suit your microwave. Microwaves tend to vary} Immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips; they will become gooey from the heat of the brownie. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Tip: If you under-cook it a little, it tastes a lot like a chocolate lava cake.
I have to warn you... this makes brownies way too easily accessible! And, they are SO addicting! I hope you enjoy them!

I followed the recipe (except I had no chocolate chips); it was overdone.
I then used 1 tsp oil and 1/4 cup water reduced by 1 tsp water and microwaved for 50 seconds. It was much better.

I've been craving warm delights since all my stores don't sell them. I found this recipe looking for recipes without cocoa powder or eggs. I've tried it 3 different times with different water and time variances and always use betty crocker brownie mix and every time I get a mug of boiling chocolate tar that has burnt the skin off the roof of my mouth twice and turns to cement in the glass. What is going on!? Why are people swearing by this and why am I failing? Has anyone really tried this successfully? I know egg is what solidifies brownie batter but somehow it works for people?
Thanks

Have you tried using a different type of mug? Perhaps the mug you're using isn't cooking evenly? Also, please wait until it cools enough to not burn your mouth.
