I am excited to share more details on the linens in our master bedroom makeover today! I am such a sucker for beautiful linens and deciding which ones would create the perfect and comfy atmosphere I was aiming for was a lot of fun. I collected them over several years.
All of the white quilts and Euros are from Pottery Barn. I got a couple of the shams from Ebay instead of the store. Ebay is a great way to get new linens, often still with packaging and tags, but at a great price.
I made the patterned duvet and the patterned Euro from sheets that I found at Marshalls. I had actually had my eye on this sheet set with the block print for about a year, but I thought I didn't have anywhere to put them. When we got our new bed I thought it would be fun to inject a little subtle pattern and a gray/blue accent, but I couldn't find a duvet I liked anywhere. Then I ran across this sheet set at Marshalls again (how lucky that it was still there!) and I knew I just had to sew it into a duvet. I also found a coordinating sheet set with little blue dots. I used the flat sheets and sewed them together into a duvet.
I found a gray Pottery Barn duvet at Downeast Home that matched perfectly and I loved how it all looked together. The color of the duvet is so similar to the chair, frames, and stool I painted. I used the king pillowcases that came with the sheet sets for the pillows that we use to sleep with. I put them behind the euros, and I love the little pop of pattern that they add and also the the fact that they prop the euros a little bit more forward. It just makes everything so much fluffier and cozier.
The only downside to using sheets sewn together as a duvet is that they wrinkle easier than a regular duvet. Having the perfect subtle pattern is worth the extra work to me though.
The other linen I should mention is this cute linen pillow on my chair. It is handmade of the most thick and luscious linen by a local friend. I know she can ship, so if you are interested in a pillow, email me and I will forward you her contact information.
What do you think of my sheet duvet? Should I write up a tutorial on how to make one?
I will be back tomorrow to share more about the bird prints flanking my bed!
