Oh my goodness, we have been BUSY!
If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know that we have been working like crazy to renovate our kitchen and main living area. Today I wanted to share some pictures of the demo. What a BIG job this turned out to be!

We really had no intention of demoing the kitchen at all. I have wanted to paint the cabinets for the past 6 years, and we needed new flooring in the family room, but that was as much as we were originally planning on doing. Well, a few months back, we had a water leak in the kitchen… which turned into major water damage to the cabinet, walls, floors, etc. And, unfortunately as the insurance company dragged their feet, mold developed. Major MAJOR bummer. On top of it, they refused to pay to fix all of the damage. So, we did the best with what we had, paid for most of it out of pocket, and worked our tails off to make our home safe for our babies. It has been a small nightmare, to say the least. I am just so, SO thankful that none of us got sick, especially our new baby.
This man of mine worked his tail off and I am so thankful for him.
We had to move our refrigerator and appliances all over the place in the process.
This entire wall had to be removed since there was mold underneath, which meant the granite had to go, as well as the backsplash in the entire kitchen as none of it could be matched.
We opted to not rebuild the raised breakfast bar because I prefer just one big flat surface.
To give you a better idea, here is the before picture of the counter and backsplash:

We also decided to go ahead and install all of our new Lumber Liquidators laminate flooring while the house was already torn up. Here is the floor after the tear-out.
I can’t wait to show you all of the after pictures!
I have a bunch of tutorials coming up for different parts of the kitchen as well… kind of turning lemons into lemonade, right!? I am so happy with the way things are shaping up. It is already so much more beautiful than I thought!
