Make this delicious Jalapeno Popper Dip with bacon for the best appetizer at your next football game! Creamy and warm, this cheesy dip is filling, flavorful, and the perfect party food for fall.
One of our very favorite appetizers is homemade Jalapeno Poppers with bacon but they can be time consuming to make. We thought it would be fun to turn them into a delicious dip that is super easy to whip up.
It turned out even better than we thought! The entire family loves it. It has all of the flavors of traditional Jalapeno Poppers with added bacon.
This dip is warm and cheesy, and delicious served with bread, crackers, pretzel bites, or pita chips.
How to Cut and Prepare Jalapeños
Jalapeños don't have to be intimidating! Just remember not to touch your eyes or face (or anything for that matter) until you wash your hands thoroughly after handling.
To cut and prepare jalapeños:
- Cut the stem off the end of the jalapeño. Cut the jalapeño in half lengthwise.
- Use the knife or a spoon to scrape out the seeds and membrane to discard. If you prefer things spicier, leave seeds and membrane intact.
- Place jalapeño halves cut-side down and cut lengthwise into thin sticks.
- Dice sticks into small pieces.
Canned Jalapenos Substitute for Fresh?
If you want to cut the prep time for Jalapeno Popper Dip or make is easier to have the ingredients on hand, the canned version is an option. You can substitute a heaping Tablespoon of canned Jalapenos for a medium sized fresh jalapeno.
I prefer the fresh ones, but sometimes canned are easier to find.
Jalapeño Popper Dip with Bacon
This dip is so easy to throw together! I just use the paddle attachment on my mixer and let it do the work, but a bowl and spoon would work too.
To make jalapeño popper dip with bacon:
- Preheat oven to 350°
- Cut and prepare Jalapenos as directed above. Sauté in a frying pan with 1 tablespoon butter until just slightly softened.
- In a mixing bowl cream together cream cheese and sour cream.
- Add garlic powder, cheddar and monterey jack cheese until well combined.
- Add jalepenos and 8 of the slices of bacon (chopped), mixing until well combined.
- Spread dip into an oven-safe 8x8 casserole dish or small cast iron skillet.
- Melt 4 tablespoons butter. Stir in Panko breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. Sprinkle on top of dip.
- Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the dip is golden and bubbly around the edges.
- Garnish with green onions or extra jalapeno and the remaining 2 strips of bacon, chopped.
- Serve warm with bread, crackers, or chips.
