Save yourself a trip to the grocery store and print off this list of ingredient substitutions to have on hand the next time you find yourself missing one of your cooking or baking staples.
There is nothing worse than being in the middle of making a favorite cookie recipe, or even family dinner, only to find out that you are missing one of the ingredients! I always hate when that happens. Luckily, you won’t have to run to the grocery store because there are substitutions for many baking staples. I compiled them into this handy free printable list for you to keep on hand when you need it!
I am also linking to 20 more everyday home printables at the bottom of this post! I know you will find something you love.
This free printable list includes substitutions for many of the basic cooking and baking ingredients that you might need:
- baking powder
- baking soda
- brown sugar
- cocoa powder
- corn syrup
- heavy cream
- cream of tartar
- evaporated milk
- fresh herbs
- sour cream
- white sugar
Print and Keep on Hand
I printed mine on cardstock, cut it out and taped it to the inside of one of my kitchen cabinets for easy reference. I have used the buttermilk substitution more times than I can count! You could also hang this list on your fridge, add it into your favorite cookbook, or even display it as artwork in your kitchen. I added a little vintage rolling pin graphic just for fun.
I think it would be cute to print this off and give it to someone as a bridal or Christmas neighbor gift with a set of mixing spoons, measuring cups, or bowls! You could even have it laminated to make sure it lasts a long time.
