It's Spring! At least it has felt like it for the past few days here- but I am not holding my breath because Idaho weather has been known to be a little all over the place during this time of year. I have been working on bringing a little bit of season indoors, and I am excited to be partnering with Homegoods and Country Living, hosted by Shades of Blue Interiors, to share my Spring home tour with you today! I will also be sharing a few of my favorite little tips.
I love every season. I feel so much excitement for what each one brings. In the Spring I start to really crave life and color. I always get so excited to plant my garden, pick out my hanging baskets, and have picnics in the yard with my babies. In the early Spring, I usually start to bring some of that life indoors and it feels like such a breath of fresh air after the dreariness of winter has been lingering.
Tip: You can find fun blooming bulbs at a lot of stores during this time of year and they last for a really long time indoors. Once they have bloomed and died out, you can plant them in your yard to enjoy next year. If you plant them in a place you see often, you will get so much enjoyment out of them for years to come and they are like a happy colorful surprise each time.
I always keep an eye out for these turkish hand towels from Homegoods because they are my favorite way to add a pop of color to my kitchen.
I am also always on the lookout for fun soaps from Homegoods. I always find such fun ones with great typography and vintage looking labels.
We had a cute little soda shop open close to our home and the hubby and I went there on our date last week. I grabbed a few of the cute ones, but I am thinking that I may need to go snag a couple more of these adorable pink ones for Spring. I had a friend ask me one time if I bought things like this for my family to drink or purely for decoration and the answer is both. I have always been the girl who saved and made my fancy lotions, for instance, last forever because they were just so special. I am the same way with fun things with pretty labels, but my family feels the opposite. When there is something yummy and pretty where you see it all the time, it is just too tempting! Needless to say, some things like this get rotated out and I just expect and kind of love it :).
The sun pouring into our home recently makes me feel oh so much happiness.
I pulled my pillows downstairs to coordinate with a new rug I layered in our family room.
I found it at Homegoods for a steal! It adds a fun layer for Spring.
I added faux branches and more white linens to my big cabinet in our family room. The little vintage fishing creel reminds me of all of the summers up fishing at rock creek with my dad when I was a kid. My favorite thing is the jar of sand dollars (we have another big jar of them in our bathroom too) we collected with our babies during our trips to the Oregon coast.
Tip: Each season brings special traditions, memories, and nostalgia. It is fun to customize your decor based upon your unique stories by adding special collections, pictures, etc.
I usually add houseplants during this time of year too. The green just feels so refreshing and I have read that they do wonders for the air in a home.
I haven't done much to Spring up our entryway, but I did change out the ribbon on a boxwood wreath from Christmas. They dry so pretty that I usually end up using them into the Spring and Summer.
My Ella's room always feels like Spring to me with her favorite color prevalent everywhere- pink!
I found all of this fun bedding at Homegoods over the years too. I am working on artwork for her room, but we need to paint the walls in here first. I started with this pink velvet pillow that I bought when she was a baby. I loved the color and how vintage it felt, so I collected the other pieces to coordinate since then. Homegoods always has such fun bedding and pillows.
Tip: Start with a pillow or piece of bedding that you love and collect other pieces to match as you find them. This helps to create a collected feel in a space you really love.
Our bonus room makeover is still one of my very favorite projects. It feels so bright and happy up here. The room doesn't need much, but some fresh flowers and this laurel pillow from Homegoods adds a Spring touch.
On the opposite end of the bonus room is the playroom that I have been working on finishing. I found this rug, the striped pillows with wooden buttons, and the ruffle duvet at homegoods.
I found this antique pine bed for a steal and knew that I wanted to incorporate it into this space. The kids love it and it has been their carriage, fort, and book reading snuggle spot. This sweet teddy bear was a gift from their grandma before she passed away and we cherish it. He is constantly jumped on, wrestled, snuggled with, read books to, and loved. You can see a peek at the table I built for the kids here (and in my post last week) but I can't wait to show you the rest of this space when I finally get it finished.
That is what I have so far. I hope you are enjoying fluffing your home for Spring!
