Hi everyone! If you are heading here from Zevy Joy, welcome! I am so glad you are here, and I am excited to share little glimpses of my home with you today.
We have been so busy around here summer-ing. You know, just soaking up all of the fun summer things while they last. Summers always seem to go by so quickly.
I have also been busy doing a bit of decluttering and fluffing the house. My style is a blend of new and vintage, and I think the balance of the two is what makes for a comfortable home.
The local berry farm is one of our favorite places to visit. Blackberries are ripe right now, and while we were there picking, I asked if I could buy some vine cuttings to play with for a flower arrangement. Before I had my babies, I used to do flowers as a little side business for weddings and special events. It was fun to play around with them again. I will share a full tutorial on my arrangements later in the week, but they include blackberry vines, clippings and roses from my garden, and donut peaches. The nice thing about using blackberries is having something to snack on while you create :).
Our table is a hand me down from my sister and my chairs are from World Market.
A few weeks ago, I picked up these pink lemonades from Trader Joe's. It is pretty much a miracle that no one has drank them, but I love using them as a decoration in the summer. Pretty packaging gets me every single time! I mixed vintage and new towels from my stash on my towel rack. Believe it or not, I picked up this cloche at Winco (a grocery store!) a couple of years ago and I rotate its location in our home from time to time.
I love, love, love antiques. I have collected them since I was 12 years old while hitting the yard sales with my mom- way back before they were cool. 🙂 I always wonder about their stories. As much as I love them and want to bring them ALL home, I think the key to really highlighting special vintage pieces is mixing them with newer items. I say "newer" because I don't go out and buy all new things. Much of the time they are thrifted non-vintage pieces if that makes sense.
I stole this milk crate from my mom, the salvaged corbel is from a local antique store, and the coffee table is thrifted. The tray is from Home Goods. There always seems to be people who are concerned when I say I steal things from my mom, but rest assured, I do it right in front of her and pay her off with grand baby kisses. Oh, and she equally steals from me, so I guess we are even. 🙂
Our office makeover was one of my priorities over the past few months and it is a good example of mixing old and new. Most of the accessories in the room are thrifted or vintage. The cabinet is a fun antique cabinet that I painted as well. The rest of the furniture, shelves and boxes are all new.
(Sidenote, on Instagram I asked this question and I would love your thoughts too- I found 4 of each of these blue pillows and am trying to decide which I like the best. What do you think? Quilted or jute trim?)
There is so much light that streams into this room and I love that.
What do you like? Vintage? New? A mixture of the two?

Kristen,
I love the fruit you added in your table arrangement. The berries and peaches really make it an unique centerpiece. I can't wait to read the post later in the week on how you did it.
XO,
Jenn
