I love holidays and I love any excuse to decorate or make my home more festive. Today I thought I would share a simple little Valentine's Day tablescape as part of a tour hosted by Lory from Designthusiasm- perfect for easy entertaining or a fun dinner with the family. If you are coming over from Shabbyfufu, welcome!
These days, Valentines Day is usually spent at home loving on my little Valentines and I wouldn't have it any other way. I actually don't really like going out on Valentine's Day because I can't stand all of the crowds and long wait times, so my hubby and I usually go out to celebrate on a different day.
We were actually snowed in today so you might see the snow outside of the windows! I had hoped to run to the store to grab flowers for a big, fun arrangement, but had to make do with some things from around the house- last week's grocery store flowers, a vintage apple picking blanket, homemade lemon raspberry cakes, and my collection of antique jars. It was simple and sweet.
My sweet Ella and I made some delicious mini bundt cakes with a raspberry preserve filling and a meyer lemon icing. They have such a fresh taste, which I think is perfect during this time of the year when things start to feel excessively cold.
She helped me to put them on each place and was so meticulous about making sure they looked pretty.
We lightly dusted them with powdered sugar.
I pulled out my collection of antique bottles. Most of them are ones I collected with I was a kid, yard sale hopping with my mom. I used to get them for about 10 cents a piece- those were the days I guess!
As I mentioned, these flowers were just last week's grocery store purchase, and this is a great way to make them last a little longer. By cutting them down and putting them in individual bottles, they add so much charm and last a couple extra days.
I know carnations aren't typically a favorite, but I love them. I think they smell heavenly.
I love the character of each bottle, and I love how happy the flower colors are in the middle of this winter.
I stole the little vintage napkin bunting I made for Ella's room and hung it in the window just for fun.
We ate a fun little dinner here and the kids loved their individual cakes. Do you have any fun Valentine's Day traditions? I would love to hear! I am trying to think of some fun things to do with my littles.
I hope you get a chance to visit the rest of the homes in today's tour and throughout the week. The next stop today is my sweet friend, Annie from Zevy Joy. Everything she touches is beautiful.
