I have so many fun things to show you over the next couple of weeks! I have been decorating for Valentine's Day and {of course} it is all overflowing with vintage loveliness! Today I wanted to share a little vintage Valentine village vignette {is that enough v's?} that I made.
To make this village, I repurposed vintage Jello molds that I already had on hand, as well as some clearance Christmas items. At 75% off, you can't beat the price! I bought a big package of these white bottle brush trees at JoAnn Fabrics for $5 and the bead garland at a local store for 25 cents.
I cut the balls of the garland apart with nail clippers, and trimmed off the string. The shiny red wasn't really my taste, so I wanted to make it pretty and vintage and tone it down a little. In order to do that, I coated them in Martha Stewart Glitter Glue (the only kind I ever use~ seriously the best), and rolled them in a mixture of "rose" and "light pink" German glass glitter {which I ordered from here}. I think they turned out to be a really lovely color with the red peeking through.
I coated a couple of the trees with a bit of the glitter glue, and poured the Glass glitter on them as well. Then I just stuck the little balls in place. After I was finished, I stuck this big tree in one of my vintage Jello molds.
A couple of years ago, I had purchased these cute little red and cream houses after Christmas at Walmart. I think I only paid 50 cents for them, and I absolutely love them... for Christmas and Valentine decor.
I sprinkled some little hearts on my village that I cut out of scrapbook paper. I glittered some of them with a silver German glass glitter that I had on hand.
I really like how it turned out, and I think that it has such a fun vintage feel.
I love any excuse to decorate! Do you decorate for Valentine's Day?
