Someone had decided to paint it white (not a good white) with hunter green trim around the mirror... not my color. I noticed under the door there was a gorgeous original green peeking through and decided that I wanted it to be that color again! Luckily, I had a can of spray paint on hand that was really similar. So, I sprayed a thin coat all over the face of the door. {I actually was using a piece of cardboard to prevent over spray onto the mirror... but I can't hold both and take a picture all at the same time! :)}
Then I took my palm sander, with the big, chunky 32-grit sandpaper and lightly went over the whole thing so some of the white would show through. It flaked off the green perfectly. I love the way it turned out!
I was impatient and couldn't wait until my husband got home... so I hauled this {incredibly heavy} door all the way inside and up the stairs.
Then, BIG PROBLEM. It didn't fit!
It is an attic space, so the ceiling is slanted and apparently I mismeasured. Ugh. I was NOT going to haul that thing back downstairs and outside again {it would probably kill me}, so I grabbed my saw and cut the bottom of that sucker off right there.
And then it fit... Thank goodness! It was totally worth the vacuuming I had to do to not have to haul that sucker downstairs again!
I obviously still need to get a shade for the lamp. The room is coming together piece by piece... I haven't decided if the mirror will stay that color, but I really love it for now. I think it is perfect for spring. Plus, I love me a little pop of green!
Tomorrow I will share another piece of furniture that I am working on for the space!
I will give you a hint: It will help to store all of Ella's toys!

Emily has just had some walls ripped down in their new home and said she had some spare doors, so I have passed this great idea on to her. Great job . Hope you are all keeping well.x

What a great find and it looks great in green! You may have already done this, but with that gorgeous little girl of yours, please please anchor it to the wall or window frame. So worth the time it would take to prevent any injury. I really like your brown sectional. With teen boys I am considering this for our next family room sofa.

Love how its all falling into place. I have been reading you blog as often as you put post up. It's harder to make comments since my online time has been cut in half but I want you to know I'm here still.

Oh you lucky duck! Even having to cut it down, your new mirror looks fab. I'm repurposing my ugly mirrored closet doors and trying to figure out how to frame them, and you stumble upon one already framed! Love the new paint job you gave it. Green, like my envy! LOL!
