One of my favorite things to do has always been to makeover old things into things I love and use around our home. I spent my childhood hitting up yard sales and thrift stores with my mom and have filled our home with many thrifted treasures. There is something so fun about taking things that have a story and a lot of wear, and turning them into something that will be used and loved for many years to come. In the past couple of years, I haven't seemed to have the time to go junking like I used to, so this project was actually a really fun one for me.
I shared a peek of this dresser at Valentine's day, but I am excited to share the whole makeover with you today. I found this cute vintage dresser in one of those local Facebook buy, sell, trade groups for only $40. It was in rough shape and was missing some drawer pulls, but it was sturdy and I knew I could easily transform it into a pretty piece for my little Ella's room. Here is the dresser before:
And here it is after:
I painted it with "Quaint Peche" from Sherwin Williams and lightly distressed in some areas. The dresser was missing a set of pulls, so I moved the ones from the small drawers down to the big drawers and bought crystal knobs to replace them. I love the mix of the pink, crystal, and the old brass. I also love the original wooden casters.
I feel like this dresser was pretty plain before, but the pink paint and distressing really brought out the details.
I bought this sweet antique dolly at a yard sale when I was a little girl and it has been one of my very favorite possessions ever since. I have obviously loved antiques for as long as I can remember. I guess my mama raised me right. 🙂 I had her in my room while I was growing up and then saved her for when I would have a little girl of my own.
Ella loves her and that makes me smile. I dressed her in an antique slip that I have had for a very long time and Ella's baby blessing dress (Gap, from Ebay). I will probably find a different dress for her at some point so I can put Ella's dress away for her daughter someday. Of course, Ella also loves her pink dresser. My sweet girl loves her pink!

What an amazing find for $40, and I love the transformation. Vintage furniture has the best lines, and it's always nice to be able to add your own touch to it. The pink is perfect!

The dresser is so charming with it's pretty details...... a perfect little girl dresser. And I loved your story about the doll you bought as a child. Something like that is a real treasure when you are able to pass it down to someone to love as much as you did.
