I have such an exciting week planned here on the blog because today kicks off a big, fun patio makeover tour sponsored by Joss and Main and featured by Country Living including these bloggers:
Ella Claire | French Country Cottage | Love Grows Wild | Rooms FOR Rent | My Sweet Savannah |
Craftberry Bush | City Farmhouse | Jenna Sue Design | Dear Lillie | Kindred Vintage & Co.
My patio kicks off the tour here now and it will run for 10 days, with one person sharing their makeover each day on their blogs. I hope you get a chance to check out each makeover on the corresponding blogs throughout the week and also HERE on Country Living because here is a sneak peek. Amazing right?
My patio was so sad this year after the winter we had. You can see it here below. Even our pup looks sad by how awful it is.
First things first, we did a thorough cleaning of the back patio and we decided to get rid of our old clunky table and chairs. We decided that we needed a more functional outdoor space and that big table just wasn't working for us very well anymore. We needed an area for eating and an area for lounging.
What do you think of our makeover?
I can't even tell you how much more functional the space is now! It is a night and day difference and we have spent nearly every day eating and hanging out on the patio. This outdoor wicker sectional from Joss and Main was the perfect size for our patio and added an area where we can lounge while watching our kids in the yard or when entertaining. I reused my umbrellas (see umbrella makeover here)
We chose a table what wasn't quite as big as the last one we had, but so much more functional. I thought I had to choose between EITHER a sectional OR a table, because we don't have the largest patio, but by arranging the furniture this way and choosing a slightly smaller table, they fit beautifully!
I kept the old vintage wicker chair that I have had out here for the past few years. I liked the patina and the extra seating.
We also added river rock around our planter and I am in LOVE with how it looks now. It is so much cleaner and nicer looking and I love the texture of the stone. I will be sharing more about this in another post, so stay tuned.
My Lilac bush is one of my very favorite things about Spring. It is so big and tall now and you can smell it in every room of the house. Ahhh, heaven.
Picking out hanging baskets is also a very favorite ritual of mine in the Spring. It seems like every year I have one that is my favorite, and this striped pink petunia is this year's!
For those who have been reading my blog over the years, you know how much I love to garden. This year I have decided to try to expand and be creative with different plants in different areas of the yard outside of my garden boxes. I am trying out some herbs in pots as part of this effort.
Doesn't he look happier about the more beautiful space now?
Creating an inviting and functional outdoor space is so important to me because we spend the majority of our time outdoors in the spring/summer/early fall. I am so excited that creating this multi-purpose and functional space will fit our needs so well, and look so pretty and cozy as well.
Next up in the patio makeover tour (tomorrow), is my friend Courtney from French Country Cottage. Everything she creates is so beautiful and I can't wait to see her full reveal! And don't forget to check back through this lineup for a new patio makeover each day for the next 10 days for more inspiration!

I adore your patio! Where did you get your freestanding Shepherds hook for the hanging plant? I’ve been looking and can’t find one like that anywhere.
Kristen Whitby
I found it at a yard sale where the sweetest old man welded it himself!

Looks great! We hung our lights last weekend and used a black 15 foot extension cord from Home Depot that we tucked around a window down to the outlet...we also draped ours in a V like you. Enjoy your patio, it looks great!

Love it Kristen! Hope your Mother's Day was grand! I finally got started on replanting my pots this weekend (I admit to being a fair-weather gardener) and am pleased with my progress and INSPIRED to create a lovely outdoor living area now. Looking forward to all the other "Rooms" featured over the next 9 days. Congrats on being the "kick-off" Garden Room.
