Delicious cinnamon apples, baked in a slow cooker for the most delicious dessert, side dish, ice cream topping, or even breakfast over oatmeal and pancakes. This recipe is quick and simple, and one of the very best ways to use up those apples in the fall!
I absolutely love apple recipes, especially in the fall! Whether it is our favorite Walnut and Apple Coffee Cake, Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls or these delicious slow cooker baked cinnamon apples, the whole family is happy when I bake with apples!
Cinnamon Apples
This recipe is simple and only takes a few minutes to pull together in the slow cooker. Sometimes it is the simple recipes that are the very best!
Apples are naturally sweet and have a dynamic range of flavors, so they don't need much to be able to stand as a dessert on their own. The cinnamon enhances the flavor of the apples and makes for a lighter and delicious treat.
When I was growing up, my mom would make us a version of this cinnamon apples recipe in a small bowl in the microwave as a treat and we loved it! We would ask for it and savor every last bite.
Baked Apple Slices
To make these baked cinnamon apple slices, give your apples a good rinse. Peel and core each apple and cut into even slices. It is much easier with an apple slicer, but can be done by hand as well.
If you are using a 2.5 quart crock pot and don't want to go to the trouble of measuring your apples, just fill up the pot and it is the perfect amount. If you are using a larger slow cooker, be sure to use 6- 8 large apples or measure out 3 pounds of sliced and cored apples.
Sprinkle with the sugars, flour, and cinnamon and toss until apples are coated.
Dump apples into the slow cooker and top with slices of butter. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours or until the apples are softened, but not mushy.
Before serving, give your apples a quick stir from the bottom up to incorporate all of the juices that have settled in the bottom. You will want all of that goodness from the bottom!
