We had never really used this side of the backyard for anything, so it had absolutely no landscaping. After this cute TuffShed was installed we had a lot to do! I wanted it to look like the space was warm and inviting and established, so we added planters and a little stone walkway. I also picked a bunch of plants and shrubs that would add fullness and texture to the space and accented the area with pretty annuals.
The deck acted as the perfect transition from the shed to the planters and walkway, and I loved the warmth the wood tones added. Our tutorial for the deck will be on The Apron blog soon. We also chose to add mulch all around the shed and in the new planters.
Some of the plants we used include Boxwood, Sage, Black-Eyed Susans, Snowball Bush, Hydrangea, English Laurel, white Carpet Rose Bush, and various annuals. We also planted a flowering pear tree. I can't wait to see what this corner looks like in the spring with the big, beautiful snowball bush and the flowering pear tree!
We built DIY window boxes to hang under the windows. You can see the full tutorial HERE.
Our A/C unit was kind of an eyesore in the middle of our cute planter, so my sweet hubby built this awesome DIY lattice cover. It stands on the front and right side from what you can see here and is anchored at the bottom so it still has plenty of ventilation. I think it makes a huge difference. For the planters on the deck, I used the buckets that held the Black-eyed Susans and I painted them with some charcoal gray paint that I had on hand.
This side of our yard used to be a little sad, but now I love the way it is so happy and warm and inviting!
