I am so excited to be sharing some of my latest IKEA loves and thrilled to be collaborating on this post as one of their ambassadors.
A couple weeks ago I was able to go down to Utah to visit my sisters and one of the things at the top of our to-do list was to go to IKEA and grab some fun things for our homes for Spring. If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have been following along on my shopping trip as I shared videos of all of my favorite finds up in the Instagram Stories. I am excited to share what I made it home with because everything I found was just SO good! The style, the quality- you guys are going to love these Spring Farmhouse IKEA finds!
When Spring rolls around, I always crave color, freshness and a clean home. I also always seem to be chomping at the bit to buy my hanging baskets and get out working in the garden. I love every season, and this time of year brings such excitement and anticipation for the warm months ahead.
One of the ways that I love to bring the spring indoors is through flowers and plants. I found the most gorgeous, super heavy and good quality vases at IKEA and I just had to bring them home with me.
They will be perfect for all of my Spring and summer yard clippings. I can't wait to fill them with my lilacs and snowballs! I also found these sweet cloches. The domes are such good quality compared to the thin ones I seem to see in other places, and the price point couldn't be beat. I actually did a double take when I first saw them. I love that these will be able to change with the seasons and I have a million ideas of how I would like to use them.
I have been doing a bit of Spring cleaning around our home as well. I have had the RITVA curtains from IKEA for about 5 years now and I decided to change them out for fresh new ones this year. I decided to get the longer ones so they would puddle a bit more on the ground which I love. They are still my favorite curtains- even after 5 years of using them! I love that I can just throw them in the washing machine whenever I need to. I might make something out of my old ones because the fabric is still really good.
Mixing faux plants with real ones is something I love to do as well and my favorite are the little lambs ear (fuzzy soft green) ones. I added a variety to different rooms in my home to give it a fresh Spring feel.
I thought these watering cans were so cute and perfect for my littles. They are such good helpers out in our garden and we work out there every day. I love what it teaches them.
During this in-between time, when it is still a little too cold and stormy outside to plant just yet, plants do really well for me indoors where I can take them outside during the day and bring them in at night. I bought this Greenhouse and scissors to give my herb garden a little head start and I think it is absolutely adorable.
We talked a little bit about IKEA's approach to “democratic design” back when I posted the Christmas guest room makeover- focusing on 5 main principles: quality, form, function, price and sustainability. This makes it simple and cost effective to create cozy and functional spaces in the home. I thought the story behind the design of the greenhouse was sweet-
“The inspiration for IKEA PS 2014 greenhouse is the traditional Swiss chalet. I’m from Switzerland, and the chalet symbolises simplicity and harmony with nature, values that seem more important than ever. The greenhouse is a portable mini orangery for plants. You can place it outdoors on your balcony or inside next to a window, put it on a table or hang it on the wall. It’s open on one side and closed on the other. When the weather is cold, position the greenhouse with its open side facing the wall. When it’s warmer, turn the open side so it’s facing out.” -Designer Nicolas Cortolezzis
I have a feeling I will be rotating this one around my home a bit. I am kind of kicking myself that I didn't get two of them now actually.
Up in our bonus room, I also added a few of the cute potted green plants. We spend a lot of time in this room as a family, so it is nice to add some freshness to the space for Spring as well.
One last thing that we enjoy this time of year is all of the yummy fresh food! While I was at IKEA, I actually ran into a friend that I have known since I was a little girl.
She makes the most delicious food and the very best pies in the world. I randomly bumped into her in front of the ramekins and she told me that she loved them, so I had to grab some for my family. I completely agree with her- they cook so evenly and perfectly! And, I love their sweet shape too.
All of the freshness and color leaves me feeling so happy! What kinds of things are you adding to your home this Spring? And I am curious, what is your go-to item from IKEA (like the RITVA curtains are for me) so I can check them out next time I go?
Janet
