Emmie is back today from My Someday in May, and I couldn't be more in love with the free printable she is sharing!! I need one of these seashell prints in my home ASAP.
I don't know about you but my brain is already thinking SUMMER! Yup, I'm dreaming of hot sand and sunshine. I thought it was time to bring a little summer to my home too. I really love old, vintage pictures and it just came to me one day that I wanted a scientific journal-like print of seashells....and if you can't find one...then make one! The Graphics Fairy has such an amazing collection of prints and graphics and I found the perfect shells for my project!
After I found my seashells and the perfect time-worn paper background, I headed on over to Photoshop to get started. But just putting the seashells on the page wasn't good enough. I wanted it to look like a real journal, with notes about each shell scribbled on the page. I felt like I was doing a school project again when I was doing all this research on different shells! It might sound like boring work, but learning about shells was actually really interesting! I had to make a couple educated guesses as to what a few of the shells were called, but based on the pictures I sorted through, I think it is pretty accurate! Every shell is beautiful and different and has its own story. I intentionally found a font that looks like a messy cursive but I think it is still legible enough to read the notes I made.
The print was made specifically to be a 16x20. Anything bigger or smaller than that and you'll have to crop or deal with resolution issues.
I love that I can hang this in my entryway during the summer and my bathroom in the winter! I'll always have a place for it! Hope you can find a place for it in your home too!
Print it HERE. I printed it at Costco as a 16x20 regular print. They also give you the option of adding a 1/2 inch white border to prints at Costco. I would recommend adding a border (if you can) so that if you have a chunky frame, some of the writing won't be hidden.
If you liked this, check out some of my other projects. Let's be friends!

I just had this printed at Costco today - I got the border as well and it came out perfect! The cashiers in the main store were asking where I had gotten it! Now to find a great old frame that I can repaint and reuse - I know exactly where I am going to hang it when I am done. Thank you!

How to I save this in order to print from Vista Print? We do not have a Costco in the rural area I live in.
Emmie Capson
I've never used vista print before but I was just looking at their site. It doesn't look like they give you a 16x20 option and the 11x17 cuts off the print and the 18x24 has a low resolution. I know there are other sites that enlarge photos and deliver to your home. I know Shutterfly does but they are a bit more pricey at 17.99 for a 16x20. I would look around to find the best price. When you click on the link to the print, hit save and it will go to your Downloads folder. You can then save it anywhere and have it ready to upload when you find somewhere to print. Good luck!

I love this! Emmie, it looks so pretty hanging in your home. Where did you go to get it printed?

Thank you!! I had it printed at Costco. It was only $7 for a 16x20 print and you can add a white half inch border to it at Costco too. I would recommend adding a border if you can. If you have a chunky picture frame it might hide some of the writing. I'm sure you could have it printed at Kinkos, Walmart, or Walgreens too. 🙂
