I am so excited to share a project that I have been working on!
I have been hard at work making over my home office into a more functional office and studio space. When I first started this little blog, I had no idea it would be a vehicle for me to live out some of my very favorite dreams. I also never would have guessed that I would need to make our home office into my office and studio space, but it has become very apparent over the past year that I need a really functional space for my projects and business. I have this weird personality trait where I am very messy creative (when I make a project it looks like a temporary explosion), and I simultaneously crave function and order. Too much clutter and decor sends me to crazy town in a quick one. I walk a fine line!
When I decided to makeover my office space, I knew that I wanted to change out my old desk and replace it with a more functional table and chairs. I needed a table for my projects, and being in a separate room from the rest of the house, it will be easier to leave and come back to projects without my little ones getting into them. This office is the very front room of our home, and with two open doorways and a massive window, it is very front and center. I wanted it to be pretty as well as functional, so I chose a more elegant slipcovered chair and pedestal table (both from Joss & Main). I am going with a plain white linen curtain that I am sewing myself. The windows are over 9 ft. tall and I wanted to save money by DIYing them. I went with a gray, white, oatmeal, navy color scheme with warm wood touches and a hint of antique brass. It has an elegant, yet cozy and laid back vibe.
The room is not very big, but the ceiling it nice and tall, so I am building shelves and making over two pieces of furniture to add the storage that I have been desperately needing. I don't want to ruin the surprise because it will be a crazy before and after, so I will just leave it at that! I am maximizing every inch of the space, adding some charming antiques and finds from Joss & Main, and I can't wait to show you what it looks like! Stay tuned for next week!
