Hey y'all, It's Holly from Love The Tompkins. I'm so happy to be back with the Ella Claire readers again this week sharing my latest little project. I have a really fast and simple jute charger tutorial that is so perfect for any summer table setting. Let me show you how it's done.
I whipped these jute chargers up a few weeks ago and I could not be more pleased with the way they turned out and how well they are holding up. I'm an east coast girl so you KNOW I love my nautical flair and these bring just the right amount of nautical inspiration to our dining table. These just chargers are by far one of the easiest projects I've ever diy'ed so let me show you how it's done!
Supplies:
Charger- to trace
Material- you'll want a sturdy material for the bottom of your charger, a cotton duck fabric would be perfect. I used a piece of drop cloth material and that worked great in my opinion.
Hot glue and glue gun
Jute rope- there are many varying sizes, I used a 1/4" jute rope, it wasn't too bulky and it was big enough that the project didn't feel tedious.
You'll want to trace the charger you are using as a reference onto the base material and cut out the circles. Do this for as many chargers as you desire to make.
Next you need to find the center of the charger and mark it. The easiest way to do this I have found is to fold your charger material in half.
And then fold your charger material in half again making a triangle.
Mark the point of the triangle. When you unfold the material you will have a great reference point of the center of the charger.
Now you get to begin adding the jute rope to your material. Start on the center point and add a small circle of hot glue.
Press the end of the jute rope firmly into the glue.
Glue around the center point.
wind the jute rope in a tight swirl around the center point gluing as you go. Repeat this until you fill the entire face of the base material up to the edges. Cut the jute rope at the edge and secure the end with hot glue to prevent fraying.
I hope I've inspired you to add a touch of nautical whimsy to your dining table. Thank you for reading my little tutorial on jute chargers!
