Hi Everyone! I'm Jennifer from Town and Country Living and I'm so happy to be here at Ella Claire with a guest post for Kristen! I want to share a Fall project with you, but not your typical home decor project like a wreath or centerpiece. Instead, I'm sharing fun Fall owl magnets that you can make on your own, or with your children!
The Fall season is filled with fabulous, vibrant colors and I always love transforming my home this time of year. So when I needed a few more magnets for my fridge, I didn't settle for advertising magnets you get from your bank or insurance agent.
Instead, I decided to concoct colorful Fall owl magnets and a few with autumn leaves, too!
You only need a few supplies and can make the magnets fairly quickly. What you’ll need is mini canvases, felt stickers, watercolor paints, and magnetic tape; all from your local craft store.
Paint each canvas with watercolors and let dry. Then flip the canvas over and add a strip of magnetic tape to the back. It’s just like putting a piece of tape on it … except that it’s magnetic.
Then simply take your felt stickers from the craft store and stick them to the front in pleasing patterns. Easy enough that even young children can help you create these!
I fell in love with these little owls from Hobby Lobby. And if you hit the store at the right time, you can get them on sale at 40% off. To give the canvas magnets added dimension, I purposely positioned the felt stickers so parts of them extended beyond the canvas.
I tested my DIY Fall owl magnets on the fridge to make sure they’d hold paper and cards. But then I found these metal trays and thought the magnets looked cute on them as a fall display!
