Hello friends! I am excited to share a little about about our Christmas Family room today with my friends in the Farmhouse Holiday Series and I hope you will get a chance to visit all of their homes linked up at the end of this post. They are so unique and stunning and I know you will love them.
Our family room is probably my favorite place in our home at Christmastime. I love cozying up by the fire, enjoying the warm glow from the Christmas tree, and snuggling with my babies talking about the birth of baby Jesus or the much anticipated arrival of Santa Claus.
I talked a bit about this mantel in my post yesterday with all of the details, but we are loving the warm dramatic glow of candlelight on these early dark evenings and nights.
I filled my cabinet with all warm and cozy things, and hung my vintage ice skates for fun.
When I was pulling out my bottle brush tree collection (if there is a 12 step program for bottle brush tree addiction, I probably need an intervention guys because this is only a small portion of it) I knew I needed a place to corral them because, well, 3 kids under 5. 🙂 So, I just put them all in this basket and called it a day.
I had every intention of going with a more monochromatic tree this year highlighting my mercury glass ornament collection, but when it came down to it I missed my red berries so I ended up adding them back. I used a more subtle and unwired ribbon this year and just draped and curled it all over the tree. I also added in snowy pinecone picks, which are my favorite! I found them at Michaels and I absolutely love what they add to my tree. (resources: Christmas tree decorating tips, Christmas tree ribbon tips)
Here is a little peak into my kitchen with my fresh boxwoods from Trader Joes. I love picking those out every year.
These plaid pillows (Pottery Barn last year) are also a favorite. I love the pop of color.
And here she is all glowy in the evening light. I had to add new lights to her this year because all of her lights were toast, so of course I added double to triple what was on there before :). I also added more flocking- which I really need to write up a tutorial for because it is the real flocking that comes on these trees to begin with and it is my very favorite tip that I have learned recently!!
Thank you so much for visiting with me today! I always am so honored to have you here. You can see Christmas Bedroom, Christmas Tablescape, and last year's Christmas Home Tour for more glimpse into our home for the holidays.
I know you will love the rest of these homes in our Farmhouse Holiday family rooms!

Is the ribbon you have used on your tree with the black stitching a grosgrain ribbon?
Kristen Whitby
No, it has more of a jute type of texture.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Blogger Christmas posts! Kristen, as always, everything is just beautiful, without being over the top. Just perfect! I just love the cascading garland on the fireplace and the restraint of the simple bow. I was disappointed to see that the swag is no longer available at Grandin Road (do you know that for the longest time, I thought it was Grand Inroad?) :/
After reading your blog and Lucy's blog (Craftberry Bush) for the last few years, I have been longing for a flocked tree and this year I finally got one! It is gorgeous, but it is a bit of a mess. I was wondering, does your tree easily "shed" its flocking? I'm a little concerned that the flocking will all fall off the tree by the time it has been put away and taken out a few times. Have you had any issues, and if so, do you have any tips on how to care for these trees?
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving with your beautiful little family!

I love your flocked tree and mirror over the mantle. Last year, your Christmas table decor was my favorite of Christmas 2015 so it will be fun to see what you do this year. Enjoy those babies. My youngest is headed out the door on a sweet date. They grow up fast! (I miss snuggling.) ????
