I am so excited to share an update today with all of the HARD work we have been up to! It has been pretty crazy around here as we have completely revamped our entire main living area and kitchen.
The biggest change, hands down, has to be the flooring. As I talked about in my funny story here, after much indecisiveness on my part, we decided to install the Rio Grande Valley Oak Laminate from Lumber Liquidators.
I could kiss this floor; it is so beautiful.
I never knew laminate could be so pretty. In my mind, when I thought of laminate, I pictured something a lot more 1990's, gross, and completely fake looking. I am so impressed with how much this looks like real wood, and how much variation and texture it has!
We worked with a licensed contractor to paint the cabinets, installed beadboard backsplashes, removed the raised breakfast bar {which you can see in the demolition post here}, added planking to the bar, had new granite installed... did I leave anything out? It has been a whirlwind! I am already madly in love with the way it looks with the new floor. I will be posting about all of these things including a few tutorials, so stay tuned.
Here is an in-progress shot of the kitchen. I will keep you posted!
I snapped this before picture right before we began demolition and as you can see, my house was a completely cluttered disaster... but here is the before:
and the after (ignore the patched wall... I still need to paint and decorate in here):
We had 3 different kinds of flooring in here. Tile in the entry, carpet in the living room, den, and hallways, and wood in the kitchen. I really wanted one consistent flooring throughout the whole space. I knew that it would make a huge difference in the open feel of the room.
I just love it. It accomplished everything I was hoping and more!
This den will now be my office... but for now it is Ella's racetrack.
I am in love.
It is so fun to take steps toward making your home the way you have dreamed it to be over the years.
I guess I feel like the whole area feels bigger and more open, but at the same time so much warmer and cozier as well. But the thing that makes me smile the most is watching my baby girl have room to run and play.
So... what do you think!? I have been SO excited to share all of these changes!

Kristen, it looks so beautiful. Thank you for sharing, it helps so much in making a decision on changing our floors. We have the same carpet you had and we have pets, so imagine the dirt. Do you have installation photos? Did you guys do it yourselves or Lumber Liquidators help you? We will be heading up to the store soon to make our selection.
