10+ creative Christmas tree stands and bases to use in place of the traditional tree skirt.
I realized that I don't have a single Christmas tree in my home that has a tree skirt anymore! What in the world? I think that having 4 kids has gotten me to be a bit more creative with my Christmas tree bases to make sure they are 1) not easy to mess with and 2) easy to clean around. That is where Christmas tree stands come into play! Today I am sharing the alternatives to tree skirts that I am using in my home as well as some of my favorites from other bloggers!
This first one is my very favorite tree stand. I built it in my garage one night when I was tired of the baby getting into the tree. I have a tutorial for this tapered Christmas tree box HERE.
I DIY'd a concrete tree stand for the inside as well. You can see that tutorial HERE.
A few years ago, I made this stand for my mom's primitive Christmas tree using an old tire! You can see the tutorial HERE.
When my parents sold our childhood home, they sold a bunch of things at a yard sale where I helped myself. 🙂 I grabbed these old awesome wooden boxes and use one for my vintage toy tree up in the playroom/family room HERE, and one in my Ella's room for her cream and blush tinsel tree HERE. They are cute and are so easy to vacuum around.
In my sons' room, their tree is in cute farmhouse style bucket. I actually bought the tree this way, but it would be easy to replicate with vintage buckets too. You can see the full room and details HERE.
In my bedroom, I have a basket collar for our tree. You can find a similar one HERE. You can see my Christmas bedroom details HERE.
I have rounded up a few more of my favorites for your tree stand inspiration!
I love this vintage wooden apple basket by Home Stories A to Z! She always has such beautiful ideas.
This base by Dream a Little Bigger is so clever and an inexpensive way to cover the stand of the tree with a little added color or pattern! You can visit her for all of the details.
Unskinny Boppy used a metal basket which I love. She is always so talented decorating for Christmas.
This vintage french basket tree stand by Dreamy Whites is absolutely stunning. I need one of these!! She sells her vintage french goods online! Her shop and blog are so beautiful!
Liz Marie Blog used a tall basket to giver her tree height and texture. It is a beautiful and simple design I love.
Some other fun ideas include vintage wash basins, crates, cloth baskets, garden planters, and more.
The thing I love most about these non-traditional tree stands is how much character and understated charm they add to the Christmas tree. It is such a fun way to get creative with Christmas decor.
