One of the things I love about summer is all of the bright and cheerful colors. They are so happy.
As you can see, we are STILL working on putting our house together. I still need to paint this woodwork. It is primed, but not painted. We are getting there... slowly, but surely.
Half of the furniture and decor from our home is still packed up and out in the garage because of our big renovation, and I will be slowly reintroducing it back into the house. I want to make sure to only bring things back inside that we 100% love and need so I am taking my time. Because the reno was such a drastic change, I am not completely sure what I will need/want in here. I was tired of living with everything completely bare though, so I added little summer touches here and there.
{Ella was very excited to draw this picture for you}
I pulled our big chalkboard in here for now. I think I want a bigger one on that wall, but Ella sure loves this one at her level!
"The green grass and happy skies court the fluttering butterflies."
I have doodled on anything and everything for as long as I can remember. A few months ago, I went through my files from over 10 years ago, of drawings and stitchery patterns that I used to sell. There were a lot of vines and floral-y wreaths and such, and I realized how much I had missed doing that kind of work. I have been working on more of them ever since, and mostly playing around with some of the ones I already had in my files.
I made this little one to share with you if you would like to download and print it. "The green grass and happy skies court the fluttering butterflies." It is free and you can find the link to download at the bottom of this post. I recommend printing it on cardstock or heavy watercolor paper. It makes a huge difference in the quality of the print.
I began to pull out my boxwood wreaths and I love the freshness and summer-y-ness {that is a word} they bring to our home. (ignore the wall patching... we are still mid-reno)
These fun flowering branches also liven up the space. I just can't wait to find a rug for this area and hang the artwork on the wall!
This isn't really a summer touch, but if you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I found this AMAZING antique trunk on Craigslist. It is so much prettier in person. I didn't get a very good picture of it. The age and patina is so beautiful.
My entire office is still out in the garage, so I have this wide open space for now. I thought I would take advantage of it by creating a fun little reading nook for Ella. She helped me set it up and she keeps sneaking away with her books to just lay in the sun and read.
I love pulling out my vintage linens for the summer. There is something so bright and cheerful about them.
I found a whole quilt worth of hand stitched Dresden Plate squares at a yard sale over the winter for only $3 and I thought they would make a fun little banner. I just clipped them to jute rope using clothespins. Look at all of the gorgeous vintage patterns! The rest of the squares are just as spectacular.
This vintage iron bed was another Craigslist score. Ella absolutely loves to play on it.
Well, that is what I have so far. I am still pluggig away at getting the house back together, and I will get there! Hopefully :).
I hope you enjoyed a little peek into our home this summer! Thank you for stopping by!

Fantastic photography! Thank you for inviting us into your beautiful home. My favorite are the colorful quilting pieces. My great aunts created many quilts using that pattern {I never knew it was called a Dresden plate pattern}. 😉
