I am excited to share my home with you today as pat of a summer home tour hosted by Nina Hendrick, and sponsored by Country Living. I hope you get a chance to visit all of the homes (I will post all of the other links at the end of this post) because there is some gorgeous home inspiration!
I ran down to my grocery store a couple days ago and thought I would look at some of their flowers while I was there, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that they had peonies! They are out of season here now and it made me so happy. Peony season is way too short if you ask me, and I was thrilled to be able to enjoy them a little bit longer. They are my very favorite.
Summer around here is all about laid back family time, so I didn't really fuss with anything in our home. To me, Christmas decorating is a little more of a production, but when it comes to summer, I love the carefree easiness of it all.
These windows are my favorite thing about our home. I love the light that pours in year around.
Funny story- I was watching a home makeover show on TV and they were making fun of the homeowner because they had installed a beadboard backsplash in their kitchen. Ha! I don't care, I still love mine. You can see the tutorial here if you want to be a rebel too.
I get asked questions all of the time about these jar shelves and we love them! They are the very best thing we have installed in our home. The tutorial explains it better, but it is completely safe and we use them every single day.
I decided to take the doors off of the new antique cabinet in my family room. They were a little wonky and they were driving me nuts. I installed shelves so it would be functional for display and I am still working on the styling a bit. I just shopped my home, but I am still playing with it. Am I the only one that has to arrange, rearrange, live with it for a couple of days, and then rearrange again? I plan on doing something to the finish of this cabinet because whoever put on the last varnish used a product that is starting to yellow. It is on the old to-do list anyway. 🙂
Ignore the light fixture in here. We still need to change it out, but I decided that I am going to hang my cute Cavallini and Co. prints in my entryway. I feel like I change this entry more frequently than any other spot in our home, but I like the idea of hanging these big prints for now. I have started building a shelf and the little frame things, but I will show you more when I get it all put together.
For now, I just tacked them in place and I love them already.
I found this little bench for $3 at the local Restore. I will share the before in another post after I get it painted, but lets just say it had lime green carpet on it. What color do you think I should paint it? I am leaning toward white... I know, so original. But, what do you think?
I am loving summer already. We have been working in our garden, playing in the water, eating ice cream for dinner, spending lots of time together, and just soaking it all in.
I have also been canning a lot. I try to can a bit in the summer so we can enjoy the yummy fresh and local food all year around. I will be sharing my recipes next week.
I only took pictures of my main rooms here, but you can see picture of my summer patio, She shed, bedroom, and our home office/studio by clicking the pictures below.

Absolutely gorgeous, Kristen! I always love your kitchen, and those peonies are the perfect touch. Your outdoor spaces are just stunning. Thank you so much for being part of this tour! xx

Love your kitchen. I have the same granite with dark cabinets but have been thinking about going white. It looks great! Do you happen to know the wall paint color? It looks like a great neutral! Beautiful home!
Kristen Whitby
It is a custom mix by the builder, so I am sorry that isn't much help!
Rachel
