Oh how I love the fall. When the weather begins to feel a bit more crisp, the pumpkins in the garden ripen, the leaves begin to fall and it is time to go apple picking, my heart feels so happy. I don't know if it is all of the beautiful colors or the excitement of the season's activities but, to me, fall is invigorating and inspiring.

Cozy Fall Entertaining
I used some of my favorite things to put together a cozy table for fall entertaining, starting with my favorite antique pine dining table. It is fun to pull real furniture outside every once in a while for a special tablescape. My littles think it is so fun when we eat outside too. This table is only set for 4, but the ideas I will be sharing can easily translate to entertaining any number!
Fall Flower Arrangement- Rich Warm Colored Centerpiece
For this floral arrangement, I grabbed my big copper pot and filled it with deep burgundy branches from my plum trees. I used floral artichokes (they have long stems), broomcorn (the wheat looking one), and Kangaroo Paw (the deep orange one). I got all of these at my local grocery store with the exception of my plum tree branches. It was very inexpensive and easy to throw together!
Inexpensive Fall Tablecloths/ Table Runners
For fall tablecloths/table squares, I like to buy 1 1/2 yards of plaid fleece. The selvedge edges are so cute and frayed and I usually just leave the cut edges to fray as well. They are easy to launder, and I usually find the fabric on sale for $6.99/yd. The flannel is so cozy and the plaid adds so much to a fall table. Bonus- when they're not in use, I usually fold them and stack them out on a shelf or drape them on the back of a chair or couch for the fall season. They look and feel just like many fall throws. And when the season is over, I tuck them away with my fall decor and pull them out year after year.
Fall Ambiance
Ambiance is one of the best things about fall entertaining. It is a time of the year where I crave coziness and warmth, so adding candles just feels like a natural addition.I really love the way the candlelight bounces off of my antique copper pot.
I always have a few sets of patio lights in my yard, and they are perfect for evening ambiance any time of the year. These ones are actually solar powered and I love them!
Creating a Special Place Setting
Adding special touches to each place setting can make a big statement for the table while making each seat feel a little extra special. I love to add a piece of fruit, a little flour sprig, a special card, or other seasonally appropriate touches. For this fall table, I added two sprigs of wheat- a very simple and inexpensive addition.
Delicious Fall Food
One of the best things about different times of the year is the food that is in season. In the fall, we love all things pumpkin, spice, and apples! I grabbed some fresh pressed apple cider because it is one of my very favorite Fall things. I took off the labels because the beautiful glass jars were so perfect by themselves.
I made a deep dish apple pie with a crumb topping and it was to die for! It is definitely a new favorite of ours. We didn't have any vanilla ice cream on hand and it was almost a sin.
Rich Warm Fall Colors
It seems like it is becoming more popular to decorate for fall with neutrals, and while I do enjoy using them sometimes, there is something about the rich, warm and deep colors of fall that feed my soul. They feel like such a treat- delicious eye candy. It truly feels like a gift to me. To me, part of embracing each season is enjoying their colors and flavors. And fall is the most abundant of all of the seasons in that regard.
For this table, I used deep purple/burgundy, burnt orange, pale straw yellow, brown, copper and olive green- very natural and rustic together.
Fall is such a gift. I love it so much.
