One of my resolutions for the new year is to become a better cook and compile a collection of really, really GOOD recipes to put into my rotation. I want to make it a habit to cook with resolve. To cook things to nourish and bless my family. I have made it a habit for far too long to just throw together whatever is easiest. Now don't get me wrong, that will still happen every once in a while! But, I want to make an effort to really try to become better.
A couple weeks ago, I asked my sweet friend Jill {who happens to only live a few doors down from me} to help me with this goal. She is the BEST cook I have ever met {she and my mom}. I am not exaggerating when I say that everything she makes is phenomenal and she has become well known for her talent. I was so thrilled when she said she would help me! {and she really is as darling in person as she is in this picture} After mulling it over for a bit, I thought it would be so fun to have her share these amazing recipes with all of you too... and she said yes!! Oh, this is such a treat.

Hi, I'm Jill: I have a loving husband and three strapping little boys. When I'm not waxing the ol' minivan, you'll find me in the kitchen putting a little love into the food I make and bake for my family. Strap on your aprons, I'm excited to share some recipes with you!

We promise to only share recipes we love. This journey is not about amassing a huge quantity of recipes {anyone else have a recipe folder on Pinterest that is embarrassingly huge?}. It is about refining our collections to good quality recipes our families really enjoy.
Some of my best memories while growing up, took place with my family around the dinner table. I think it is a place- a liminal space- where families can really connect. As you know from this blog, I enjoy creating a warm and comfortable home for my family which is usually in the form of some kind of DIY or decor project. I am thrilled to be documenting this journey as well.
So, without further ado, Jill has a DELICIOUS Pasta Dish to share with you!
Hello! I'm Jill and I feel so honored to be contributing here on Kristen's blog! She does beautiful things and I am so lucky to be a part of it!
Today I wanted to share with you a quick and delicious meal. It only takes about 20 minutes to whip this up and your family will love it! Feel free to add whatever vegetables your family prefers and make it your own!
Ingredients:
3/4 lb. pasta, Orrechiette/Shells/Pinwheels- Whatever your family prefers
12 oz. frozen peas or asparagus-1/2 in. dice
1 tablespoon olive oil
8 oz. fully cooked Italian-style turkey sausage links, sliced on the diagonal
8 oz. Pesto
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1/2 cup pasta water
Directions:
Cook the pasta according to the package directions, adding the peas or asparagus during the last 3-4 minutes of cooking. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water; drain the pasta and vegetables and set aside.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook, turning occasionally, until they have a nice golden crust on them. Add some of the pasta water and deglaze your pan, scraping all of those bits off of the bottom.
Add the pasta, vegetables and pesto to the pan. Stir to combine and coat. Add more pasta water if needed.
Divide into bowls and top with Parmesan. Serves 4-6.

Wow, that looks delicious, I'm definitely going to try it! I am so happy to see turkey sausage too, so many recipes have chicken which is not my favorite and frankly, I'm sick of!

I really love 1 if you go dark. That is the one I liked immediately but I don't know if you want to go that dark. And then I like 4 if you go light....I like some of the lighter ones too but they'd be too close to the wall color. Yes, for me..it's 1 or 4 for sure. I like 8 as well if you really want to go light.style design
