I was talking to a neighbor a few years ago who lives in an old farmhouse nearby that she and her siblings were raised in. She pointed to the steps and told me about how her mother used to leave little cones there with pretty Spring flowers from their yard every May Day (May 1st) for them to take to their teachers and friends. I love this sweet tradition and want to do it with my own littles so I designed a printable to share. I also think they make cute little Spring accents around the home for more than just May Day.
I am also sharing some more beautiful printables in easy to recreate vignettes from some of my friends below. I know you will love adding them to your home this Spring.
The fun thing about these little flower cones is that you can use them for more than May Day. You can also hang them on hooks, door hinges, knobs, dresser hardware and more to decorate your home for Spring.
Traditionally, you would collect pretty Spring flowers to fill your cones and give away, but if you are hanging them around your home you might want to use fake flowers. Using flowers that dry well is also a good option (like lavender).
You can print these cones by following the link at the end of this post. There are 5 different designs and all have vintage French graphics. I recommend printing them on cardstock.
Simply print, cut and roll into the cones. I used tape along the backside of the seam to hold my cones together.
To hang my cones, I used a hole punch and plain old twine, but you can use ribbon or anything you have on hand.
Then I just filled them with flowers! I clipped the boxwood sprigs from my yard and the flowers were from the grocery store.
I think these would be fun to use to hold little treats or party favors too.
I hung mine on an old shudder I have in my dining room.
