I am so happy to be posting today. That may sound silly, but during the time I took off over the past month, absence really did make the heart grow fonder. I needed the rest, the relaxation, the post-holiday organizing, and the time to just..... be. I feel happy to be back and so excited for what this year has in store!
I have spent the past couple weeks snuggling my babies. It is never fun to see them so sick, but I do admit that I love the snuggles. We all got that nasty head cold that was going around, so we watched A LOT of movies, ate our weight in popsicles, and drank so much fresh lemon tea.
These aren't just any grocery store lemons. These are the lemons they grow in heaven... and in my grandma's backyard in California. I have loved these lemons ever since I was a little girl when I would pick, peel and eat them fresh off of the tree. During my pregnancies, I really had no other cravings but for my grandma's lemons, and she would send me boxes of them in the mail.
I was so thrilled a couple weeks ago when my mom brought some back for me from her visit, and I was so happy to have them when we all got sick. There aren't many things more comforting than grandma's lemons, and being able to make my babies fresh lemon tea to help soothe their coughs and sore throats meant so much to me.
If you want to make your own fresh lemon tea, all you need is:
- A mug of hot water (not too hot, of course)
- 1/2 lemon (If you don't have a tree from heaven, Meyer lemons at the grocery store may be substituted)
- Honey to taste
Just stir and enjoy. I drink this even when I am not sick, but there is something about the way it soothes my throat that makes me feel so much better.
