Hi Everyone! It’s Jennifer here from Town and Country Living to share a special Christmas project with you. Yes, it will soon be that time of year when all is merry and bright! I always know when the holiday is nearing because cleaning up glitter becomes a regular routine at my house and this past weekend was no exception. I was busy making these quick and easy DIY Paper Mache Stars!
To me, Christmas isn’t Christmas without a little sparkle and shine, but I don’t like to overdo the bling too much because my mother drilled it into me that Christmas shouldn’t be too gaudy.
When I was on the hunt for supplies for another holiday project, I came across plain paper mache stars at the craft store and immediately knew how pretty they’d be with a little glitter and paint.
Each star was $1.49, but they were on sale at 40% off so I snatched up all the remaining stars in the bin! To complete this project, you’ll also need chalk type paint, Mod Podge, and glitter.
Start by painting half of your Paper Mache stars. I used chalk type paint in because it dries so quickly, but you could use acrylic paint, too. Paint one side (I used Old White), let the stars dry, then flip them over and paint the other side. Next, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge or other craft glue thinned with water, and quickly sprinkle on the glitter.
I glued and glittered both sides at once, and then hung them from a piece of twine to dry. I used a miniature wooden clothespin to clip them to the twine.
The painted star is in the background, while the star in front was simply glued and glittered without being painted. I like the look of both and can’t wait to hang them on my tree (and no, I haven’t put my tree up yet).
I created a little vignette with my DIY Paper Mache Stars and my newest bottle brush Christmas trees. It’s just the right amount of glitter and shine for the holidays!
I’d love to have you visit me over at Town and Country Living for more decorating inspiration!

I LOVE these stars. Now I've got to see if I can find them in any of our craft stores, before they're bought up. We have all the top three craft stores only 15 minutes from us.
