Classic red and green Christmas decor feels like home during the holiday season
This year has been full of a lot of unexpected ups and downs. We never expected to have such a hard time finding property or a home to buy in the town we moved to, but selling our previous home was still the best decision for our family. We are grateful for the friends we have made and this little rental where we are able be cozy and warm with our little ones.
I wanted to make our rental home as cozy as possible for our family this Christmas season. I believe in making home feel like home no matter what.
I decided to decorate with red and green classic Christmas decor this year. Each year I lean more toward the nostalgic, traditional and vintage. It is what I love and what feels like home to me during the holidays. Trendy Christmas decor is not something I have ever tried.
Red and Green Christmas Tree
The bright pop of deep red velvet in our family room just feels so Christmasy to me. I love how festive and happy it is.
On my Red and Green Vintage Christmas Tree, I used mostly ornaments from my mercury glass collection. I have been collecting them for many years and love adding to the collection as I find them. They are all neutral so it is easy to use them from year to year with varying ribbons and other accents.
I did make and add these DIY Snowflake Ornaments for my Christmas tree this year which was a fun project. I also reused this DIY Star Tree Topper that I made last year. It has a very classic feel to it that I love.
Red and Green Christmas Mantel
This year, I decided to change things a little bit and do a Wreaths and Ribbon Christmas Mantel. I usually do a lush green mantel with layers of garlands, but this year just wanted to try something a little different to compliment the Christmas tree.
I like that it is unique and different but also has a very classic vintage feel to it.
I added pops of color with my pillows as well.
In the kitchen, I added a little twiggy tree with dried orange slices and red velvet ribbon holding little gold bells.
I found this vintage embroidery at a thrift store months ago and tucked it away for Christmas. I thought the Christmas birds were very sweet.
In my bedroom, I put up this twiggy flocked Christmas tree and decorated it with orange slices and DIY pinwheel ornaments. I have collected vintage shiny brie ornaments that I used on this tree as well and the patina is so beautiful in person.
I love the reflection in my vintage gold mirror.
Also in the kitchen, I put together an easy little DIY flower arrangement with reds, whites and greens.
And last but not least, I decided to gather all of my wrapping supplies in this little basket cart this season so it would be easy to get to whenever I want to wrap a present. I think it is cute, so it doubles as decor as well.
