I found a really ugly lamp at a thrift store.
When I say ugly, I mean REALLY REALLY ugly.
If you don't believe me, check out this 'before' picture I took at the store.
Could it get any worse? There really are no words.
But, I saw that she had pretty bones, so I politely took off the awesome lampshade, left it there on the shelf, and proceeded to the checkout counter to purchase the rest of her. Who knows? Maybe that shade is exactly what someone else is looking for, right!?
I wanted this lamp to have the look of years and years of aging, with a lot of layers of paint.
So, I used my own little funky technique using homemade chalk paint and I really like how it turned out. I love how chunky and substantial the lamp is, and I think it adds a lot to the space.
I still need to finish the table it sits on. I am still not sure how I want to finish it.
Does anyone have suggestions?
I had a lamp shade skeleton that I threw on the base. It is the perfect size and scale for the lamp, but I am not sure how I am going to cover it yet.
Well, I hear Ella moving around in there, so I guess nap time is over!
I hope you all have a wonderful Independence Day!

As for your lampshade, how about wrapping it in some of that wonderful jute roping you covered the Dixie cups with? Such a great idea.
