It is 105 degrees outside right now.
And there is a thunderstorm.
It is muggier than I can ever remember it being here.
And I have a cold.
And a sinus infection.
So I did the only logical thing and went thrift store shopping!
I am so glad I did because I found this beautiful antique bed for Ella. You might think it is a little premature since she will be in a crib for another year or so, but I have been working on her room, and collecting things for it, since she was born. I like to decorate that way, little by little, when I find the right pieces.
So, here are a couple of bad pictures that I quickly snapped on my porch before bringing it inside. In case you are wondering, no, that old nasty porch mat does not match my house. My hubby is a die hard Boise State fan, and, well... I figure it is the least I can do since he is so wonderful and supportive of all of my decorating adventures!!
It came with all of the original hardware and curvy wood railings, but I didn't get a picture of them. I really love this bed! It doesn't quite look this orange in real life, but it is still a little too orange for my taste. I will probably end up putting a new darker finish on it. I thought about painting it, but I think I will really love the way the wood looks next to her soft light linens.
A couple of other things I found include books, vintage linens, and a roll of butcher paper.
Overall, I think it was a pretty successful day!
{even though I am pretty sure my head is going to explode now}
:)

You found so many of my favorites! At least you could take your mind off the sinus infection for a little while.
beautiful bed! great finds!
That bed is beautiful! I like your thinking, just picking up pieces you find along the way. I'm too much of a spur of the moment decorator...I get an idea then I run with it and get frustrated if it isn't finished in a week...hence the "room from hell!!"
So, um, I think the nursery would be the next item to share???
What great finds you found!! And the bed is simply gorgeous!
Oh my gosh! Kristen! Our beds for our girls look almost the exact same! You have amazing taste ;) Only mine is painted cream and distressed. Glad you found the perfect bed. I can't wait to see how it turns out! Hope you get better soon :)
LOVE the bed, and can't wait to see what Ella's room looks like. :) When you say 'thrift store', which ones do you hit up?
Such a sweet bed, I also like how you are going to redo it! The linens will look wonderful against it! Hope you are feeling better♥
Love your thrift items... where do you go? I think I need to hit up some of those stores!
The bed is to DIE for!!!
Thanks for sharing..and I to woke up to the sinus and the thunderstorms are heading my way too...SLC
I just know it will look beautiful when you are done! It is such a great find! The linens are sooo pretty! Hope you feel better soon!
When you wrote that it was 105 and thundering, I thought, "Hmmmm, that sounds like Boise a few days ago." And when I saw your welcome mat, I knew I was right. I have a BSU Gnomie and a couple blue and orange flamingos in my back yard that have somehow not found their ways onto my blog either! (They just may this fall, though. :) I found you through the Cozy Little Cottage Welcome Wagon and am looking forward to following you. In my 23 years here, there's never been a more miserably hot and humid day in Idaho than that one. A bad day to be sick, and I surely hope you're feeling better soon. Your new bed is beautiful!
Kristen, You have a wonderful blog! YOur sweet Ella Claire will love her new vintage bed!!! Can you imagine all the bedtime stories, sleepovers, prayers, Mommy/daughter talks will go on over the years. Love up every second!

Love all of your finds. The linens are great. My grandma did lots of cutwork so your post reminds me of her! Your daughter is so precious!
What a beautiful bed! And it's something that won't ever look too babyish.
I hope you're feeling better. It's been hot and stormy here, too. And smoky from all the fires!
Love love love that classic and beautiful bed. I, too, would never paint it. It is so perfect for your girl....she will love it someday.
