I really like the simplicity of this Pottery Barn frame below.

And I really like this Pottery Barn burlap mat...

So, I made my own version, combining the two. I have an old calendar with vintage botanical prints that I got at a yard sale for $1. I wanted to frame some of the prints for my living room. I picked up these 16x20 frames at a local craft store on sale for $10 a piece. I like the Walnut color.

They had a piece of cardboard in them already which I cut to make the base of my mat. Then, I just covered the cardboard in some of my prepared burlap. If you would like to see how I prepare my burlap, I posted about it here.

Great job! congrats on the feature! :)
This is seriously about to happen in my house. So awesome! Thanks for sharing!!
This is probably a stupid question, but how did you get the mat so perfect? I can't see any frayed burlap edges in the opening of the mat, and I'm wondering how you did it. Thank you :)
